A public software update called the Shield Experience 9.2 has started rolling out to all Shield TV models dating back to the original Shield TV released in 2015. This update was previously made available early as an opt-in preview, but it's now available to everyone.

They have not stopped selling it and have not been forthcoming on a new model. Yes, the hardware is old but for a all-in-one device it is still a decent option. I will leave this here as a resource for those who are looking to consider this vis-a-vis others -
