^^ Well i don't think it's a good idea to spend so much money and buy this dual gpu card ( 7950)when its not even dx10 compatible.(unless you have the money to upgrade in a yr.)
I agree!! A lot more expensive, more heat, more noise - All this for no added features. All you get is faster frame rates for today's games!( plz correct me if i am wrong) What's the point in that?- I mean it doesn't make any diff. ( atleast to me) whether you play a game at a frame rate of 60 or 160. And without dx 10 support it may not even play tomorrow's games!!! :tongue:Aditya said:Plus it cant do HDR+AA.
Quad SLi is a joke anyways.

What a waste. Stupid rich kids with no knowledge .
You'll have to wait a little bit longer for 7950 Quad SLI
NVIDIA just released the following information to its distributors about the GeForce 7950GX2, which was expected to launch next week:
Due to multiple requests and logistics timing with our partners, NVIDIA has officially delayed the launch date of the GeForce 7950GX2 to Tuesday, June 6, 2006. Please note that the NDA embargo date has also shifted and that no information associated with GeForce 7950 GX2 can be communicated outside your company or posted live on your site until 6:00 AM PST on June 6, 2006.
NVIDIA released a separate statement earlier this week claiming the following:
On MAY 30 NVIDIA will launch GeForce 7950 GX2. This product will be the fastest single card video card solution available. At launch, only single GeForce 7950GX2 configurations will be supported. QUAD SLI systems will continue to ship with 2x 7900 GX2. Schedule for 2x 7950 GX2 QUAD SLI will be updated on MAY 30. Sample product on 7950GX2 will be shipping today. EVGA, BFG, and XFX all have stock of 7950 GX2 and will hard launch.
Dual GPU without a doubt.shado_chazzer_killer said:So whts will be better.
SLI vs Dual GPU
I vote for SLI. hands down
Add in the crappy drivers and even more crappy performance. A pair of 7900 GT's @ 500/1500 sell for $600. The estimated price of 7900/7950 GX2 is at least $600 probably more and they are @ 500/1200. The memory bandwidth of the SLI config will leave the GX2's biting the dust.Anish said:Dual GPU without a doubt.
Lesser space, lesser heat, lesser power, much lesser noise
NVIDIA is prepping the launch of its Radeon X1900XTX killer
DailyTech earlier reported that consumers will have to wait a little while longer for the 7950GX2 QUAD SLI adaptor, but details of the card were not revealed. Today we take a deeper look at the specifications of the NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 video card.
NVIDIA's sales material claims the following specifications:
500 MHz core clock
600 MHz memory clock
1GB GDDR3 memory
Dual dual-link DVI+HDTV-out
HDCP Support
GeForce 7900GTX 512MB cards typically run core clock speeds around 650MHz, meaning the 7900GX2 is significantly under clocked. However, there are two cores present.
NVIDIA's GeForce 7950GX2 is a dual PCB adaptor that is directly derived from the GeForce 7900GX2, which was already derived from the GeForce 7900GTX ASIC. GeForce 7950GX2 takes two GeForce 7900GTX boards, and joins them via 32 PCIe lanes. 16 additional lanes are routed to the motherboard out to the PCIe adaptor. The GeForce 7900GX2 was designed specifically for OEM system builds and as a result nothing was compromised for performance. However, GeForce 7950GX2 is designed to be the retail component, and as such a few things needed tweaking for retail sales.
he NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 graphics card will launch on June 6, and will retail for $599-649. Even though the card is designed for QUAD SLI, there will be no four-GPU support at the time of launch with the 7950GX2 due to driver constraints. ATI's Radeon X1900XTX retails for approximately $480 USD
You probably remember the Dual GPU solutions from Asus and Gigabyte. A single board with two GPUs like the 3D1 and 7800GT Dual Card. You probably already know that the GeForce 7950GX2 will be a single board with two G71 GPUs clocked at 500MHz, with memory at 1200MHz.
Nvidia used their mobile design to reduce the power consumption but that is all old news by now. According to some OEMs, the 7950GX2 is supposed to be the new performance king. Not just for Quad SLI, it can also be a problem due to Nvidia`s SLI chipset licensing. We’ve learned that the release date was supposed to be earlier then the end of May. Some manufacturers actually uploaded a 7950GX2 manual a month ago.
DUAL graphics cards from Nvidia are delayed for a week. We know that the cards are shaping up and you can expect loads of reviews just before the Computex show in Taiwan.
Nvidia wants to time its launch with the big trade show that starts next Tuesday in old Taipei and as always to polish up the drivers as well.
ATI will have a big problem with this one as the suggested retail price is a rather reasonable $599 for the dual G71 card. We are certain that this card will outperform the currently top Geforce 7900 GTX and Radeon X1900 XTX cards. Two chips will do things faster then a single one.
We also beleive that Nvidia plans a massive price drop for its current top end 7900 GTX cards to make some space for the new Geforce 7950 GX2 cards.
Those cards are much shorter and will fit in most computer cases and, even better, they will work in every single SLI compatible board. Expect to see a lot about them by next Monday or Tuesday.
Inching our way to QUAD SLI
Gigabyte and ECS are already gearing up for the GeForce 7950GX2 launch on June 6, 2006. The GeForce 7950GX2 is a dual PCB video card that takes two low clocked GeForce 7900 series GPUs and joins them together with a 48 pipe PCIe bridge. The card uses a single x16 PCIe interface to connect to the motherboard.
ECS, certainly not known for high end video cards, lists the card as the N7950GX2-1G. Gigabyte lists the card as the GV-3D1-7950-RH. Neither site lists clock frequencies, although NVIDA's internal presentations have claimed each GPU will have a clock of 500MHz with a memory frequency of 600MHz. Manufacturers tell us that all of the GeForce 7950GX2 cards available at launch are actually NVIDIA designed reference boards.
