The Register has an answer for the problem of what to get the graphics buff who has everything, Nvidia's new 64x SLI GPU rig. While it doesn't come cheap, a mere $17,500, it will offer rendering at around 80 billion pixels every second and a combined resolution of around 148 megapixels. The new hardware is being targeted at content creators and people doing scientific modeling and is due to ship in September.

64X....ok.... bandwith doesnt mean much considering AGP 8x would still not bottleneck 90% of GPU's out today...

so whats the money for? quad sli? 16X of bandwith per card

^^Saw it yesterday at the expo. Allows upto a max of 4 GPUs and 2GB of memory in the low end device they had there. Nothing very overwhelming... does everything an SLI rig does other than the fact that power requirements are handled by the enclosure..

Chaos, I tried reading up on this, but couldn't really understand it. :P Is this like a separate box that we connect to our PC?? Or is it a completely standalone unit? Meesa confused

its not even remotely targetted at gamers...its quadro rig,....purely for "hardware rendering of app viewports" amd "content creators? not
"content users"...
HDR means horse crap in the app n content creation segment...

i kn u prob wer sarcastic but just had to make this point..

Yup... exactly... the market for this is engineers/scientists/DCC folks. Its a separate box that houses the vid cards.
