Octroi Charges applied by DHL

Just received a shipment from DHL and they have charged me customs worth 1076 for stuff whose total networth is 2500 odd Rs.

Can someone please expalin me what is
1) Counter Vailing Duty???
2) Additonal Custom Duty????

^ The actual customs duty is approx 27% ie Rs 743 and the remaining Rs 300 + tax ~ Rs 330 is DHL's Customs Clearing Fee.

What is the item that you ordered? The customs duty is split into ( BCD + CVD + Addl Duty + Cess )

Had ordered some tshirts from thinkgeek.com

Did not expect this kind of charge though... but are all these applicable to clothes...
 
I recently had to pay DHL, 5.3K to collect my package. This included BCD + CVD + Addl Duty + Cess, as mentioned above.

Although, in my case the package was valued at over 25K.
