Hi.

Received this in the mail earlier today:

Is the 128GB Vertex 4 a good buy? I was planning to buy the Crucial m4 128, but write speeds on the OCZ look to be significantly faster.

Most of the reviews out currently are for the 256GB+ versions.

What about the retailer? Has anyone here ordered from them before?

Thanks,
Maestro

Excellent price! Grab it. I'm using an OCZ Vertex 4 in my media center rig and its fast - even the 64gig has 200+ MB/s write speeds with FW 1.5. No blue screens and similar crap either. Only thing to remember is to flash it asap to 1.5 using ocz toolbox and have AHCI enabled in your motherboard.

I paid just 69$ for it though :P.

Thanks for the advice. Planning to pick it up either this weekend or next.

The latest Vertex 4 firmware updates provide a noticeable boost in sequential write speed at 128GB and 256GB capacities, and the low queue depth sequential read performance issue has also been fixed. Our primary complaints from the initial review, at least from a performance perspective, have been addressed.

The Vertex 4 continues to do a great job addressing one of the major performance issues with SSDs: maintaining great write performance. The V4 always tested very well under the most strenuous of circumstances. Now the trick is bringing mass appeal to the drive, which is admittedly more about ensuring compatibility and reliability than improving performance with small files.

guys i was planning to put one of these on my laptop..(Pentium B950,4GB RAM,W7)...I can manage with the storage space of 120GB..will the performance significantly improved?

You will definitely notice a boost in the performance vis-a-vis the hard drive. However, depending on the southbridge chipset of your laptop mainboard the performance may vary. Low end chipsets will result in performance drops.

You could go for Corsair Force GT 120GB @ 8.2k

OCZ is much better in performance than GT series, OCZ maintain same performace for compressed and non-compressed data, they even have good confidence in their controllers which is why you can see 5 yrs warranty instead of 3 yrs. Going for OCZ seems a good choice to me.

Yes!Pretty good deal!
I was torn between this and m4,ended up buying m4.If you are Windows user Vertex 4 is a pretty safe bet!
