Had been to S.P Road today to get the price quotes for a system i am building....got the quotes from Ankit Infotech, Golcha, Renuka, Acme, Bangalore computer and Metro computers... was really surprised both at the prices and at the level of technical knowledge of the people over there ....well these are the price quotes i have got...please let me know if these prices are good enough

E4300: Ankit quoted 4750...pretty much the same in all the other shops i had been to, except at ACME where i got a quote of 7500

XFX 650i Ultra: Ankit quoted 5250....none of the other shops knew about this MB...Golcha quoted the price as 13000...i asked him twice if it is the price of 650i and the relpy was a yes both the times(might have confused it with 680i)

1 GB Ram 667 Mhz: 1800 (Transcend).....golcha gave me a quote of 3000, saying that the cheaper ones were all local brands and of no use

Zebronics Antibiotic: 2000 @ Ankit....pretty much the same else where

Cooler Master 660W: 3500 @ Ankit....golcha quoting 4500...again a brand unknown to the guys at the other shops...

VG1930WM - 10900 @ Ankit...none of the other shops had this...golcha gave me the price of VX922 - 12000  (haven't heard of this monitor).

160GB HDD - 2000....same in all the shops

XFX 8600GT - 6900 @ Ankit

XFX 650i seems to be a brand unknown to most of the sellers....if i had not seen the MB at Ankit, i would have believed that 650i does not exist at all...:)

Please let me know if these prices are good enough....If there are any other shops where the prices are reasonable do let me know....will have to buy the system before Wednesday...
Also does anyone know of VX922 monitor ?

again these prices r w/o VAT. So as usual Dinesh of Ankit gave u ok prices. His technical knowledge is at least somewhat ok.

Regd erratic price difference of more than 4-5k, im pretty sure that they have quoted for different procy or mobo. Im sure they wouldnt know much difference between 650i and 680i :) . Ive had it many times and got burnt once. You ask them 10 times they will say the same thing, but finally you will get a diff product.

Cooler Master - I dont know why Golcha is charging more. The most common place to get CM stuff is Golcha/Zoom. Maybe I have to look elsewhere from next time for CM parts.

VX922 - The specs seems to be nice, but dont know anything about it. But its not a wide screen monitor.

is the 160GB HDD SATAII or IDE? Ive to buy couple of them in next 2 weeks

Yeah the 160GB HDD is SATA....the cheapest quote for CM 600W was from Acme @ 3350

ankit knew abt the 650i cause the last time i had been there..i was pestering him about the same.....he said he would get it in 2 days...& i think he has stocked it..:hap2:

Bangalore Computers quoted a price of 6300 for XFX 8600GT

Close your eyes and get it from there...

BTW, any shopkeepers at SP ROAD who know about the computer peripherals they sell? Kinda like SMC, CE in apna sweet Delhi...

freakkin awesome man.........i would like to konw the prices of 8800 GTX and GTS models from ankit dude........u have any idea ??.......good work man!!

Blore computer 8600GT price is a fluke I guess....I called up the guy Dilip there, he made a mistake & posted 8500GT price 512MB model one :p

So as it seems the lowest price of 8600GT is 6.9k+VAT , which I still doubt..will call DInesh of Ankit to confirm

As of Deepak's query, its Ankit Infotech who stocks the largest amount of stuffs.Golcha also keeps lots of stuffs, but we TE guys avoid gng there beacuse of the rip-off prices. IN SP Road, u get lot of diff in prices between various stuffs as stuffs are sourced through diff distris by diff shops. Say a Viewsonic particular model say VG1930wm can be sourced by dealer frm Redington/Compuage etc. As usual there r lot of stuffs exp in Samsung LCD/Transcend RAM/Flash Drives which are direct imports & hence cost less.

Supposed to be a kick ass monitor

Newegg.com - ViewSonic X Series VX922 Black-Silver 19" 2ms DVI LCD Monitor 270 cd/m2 650:1 - Retail

I think the price is great too..if this was available in Delhi, I would have bought this by now.. Hate the 19" WS stuff..

VG1930WM easily defeats the VX922 due to higher Resolution. Contrast Ratio & Brightness :)

only down side in VG1930WM is the 10 degrees lesser horizontal & vertical Viewing Angles :(

2ms (VX922) vs. 5ms (VG1930WM) does not matter much either ;)

golcha quotes randomly, he'll only find out the right price if ur gonna buy from him. he quoted 12k for p5n-e sli...
^^^ Absolutely. He doesn't seem to be the customer-friendly type. I bought my Corsair HX620 from him, though.:hap2:

To answer Deepak's question above, the guy at Zoom computers (another Golcha) seems knowledgeable. The lead guy at Ankit (forgot his name) knows a thing or two too.

Might be....coz the prices of all the other peripherals was on the higher side when compared to Ankit...only the 8600GT was of a lower price.

freakkin awesome man.........i would like to konw the prices of 8800 GTX and GTS models from ankit dude........u have any idea ??.......good work man!!

am going back to SP Rd on maybe Monday or Tuesday...will enquire about the prices of these cards and shall let you know.

Where did that come from :S

19" (WS) - 1440 x 900 = 1296000
19" (Non WS) - 1280 x 1024 = 1310720

The Non WS has 1% better resolution than the WS model. :bleh:

The main reason for getting WS monitors is because most of the games and movies are using this format and its here to stay.

The human eye is more suited to seeing wider pictures than 4:3 ratio picture.

Thats actually the reason behind making the WS format. According to the ancient Greeks the most pleasing rectangle to the human eye has a aspect ratio of 1 : 1.618. Such a rectangle is called the golden rectangle.

Golden rectangle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Widescreen monitors are made such that they are as close to this ratio as possible without causing manufacturing difficulties.
