Hi,
I am about to buy a pc for my use at my office. The budget is, strictly, < 25K. Will be doing coding, compiling, sql 2005 (client), browsing and all the officey things on this pc. I'll also need as many usb and lan ports that I can get on a single mobo. Obviously, on-board video, sound and lan are a must. And the most important constraint of all is warranty for all parts; preferably for 3 years.
The following's the config on my mind. Got to buy this pc tomorrow. I'll also list my thoughts behind theselection of the parts. Your thoughts on this will be much appreciated.
***********
Amd x2 4000+ - ~Rs.3250
[Could go for the x2 3800+ too, I think. But dual core is a must coz I open too many apps simultaneously and I want it responsive]
Jetway M26GTM-3VP / M2A692-GDG - ~Rs.3000
[This is the place I need the most help as I don't have a clue on the low-end motherboards. Basically, I need the cheapest one that will do the job, while carrying a lot of features onboard]
1GB Transcend 533/667 DDR2 (almost same rate) - ~Rs.1900
[Will Dynet be a cost-effective and warrantied alternative?]
160GB seagate/hitachi internal hdd - Rs. 2,400
[SATA or SATA2, depending on price.]
Zebronics generic cabinet with PSU - Rs. 900/1000
[Any particular model that is "breezy" and can be looked at without a grimace?
The PSU wattage is also important.]
LG 18x DVD RW drive - ~Rs. 1380
[For backups and stuff
]
Viewsonic 19" (preferably, non-wide) LCD ~Rs. 9000
[Would prefer larger screen area for more productivity. Non-widescreen would mean less vertical scrolling. And, LCD means less power draw and more desktop space lost.]
Keyboard + mouse - ~Rs. 800
[Please let me know of any good kbd for coding with a palm rest and a good optical mouse with scroll. There's a microsoft kbd/mouse combo and that's the price I've listed]
Altec Lansing/Creative 2.0 speakers - ~Rs. 450
[Not very important. Only for voice chats on skype and for those little multimedia escapades :ashamed: ]
Microtek/APC ups 600/500VA - Rs.2,000/2,300
[Will microtek 600VA be reliable enough? Or should I get APC for the office?]
***************
Anything I missed? Softwares are already bought. The above prices are from deltapage.com and theitwares.
Yea, this is for the same office I am getting help for over here too:
