Well! I thought that this shouldve been here along time ago and its damn neccessary for our views to wht should be going on.

Rules:-
1. Every AMD or Intel hate post should go with a good reason and should be appropriately described.
2. NO SPAMMING

SO THIS IS THE OFFICIAL THREAD.

There wont be spamming and flaming here, rest assure of that.
THis is bcoz everyone here knows what better for what.
Games & productivity & value for money=AMD
Everything else= Intel.
Its as simple as that :)
Thats why i have AMD A64.
THis is situation as of now here.

Absolutely Darky , you ca ndo with a blunt knife also.

Love AMD Becoz
- Gr8 for Gaming.
- Got Integrated DDR Controller so provides better RAM CPU data flow[Mem BW].
- All gr8 Proccy come in S939 so no need to update Mobo for new Proccy.
- Utilizes RAM to the fullest runs DDR Ram at excellent timings.
- Love it more when it OC's and beats Intel in Gaming.

Intel
- Best proccy for Encoding
- hope they concentreted more on a Single Socket & on Features than on that Mhz.
- LGA 775 Socket is pathetic , the pins are twisted even if a single pin gets bent the
proccy will be useless.

Intel would have trounced AMD if they concentrated on Dothan cores then Presscott cores, but a Presscott core can sclae to 3.8 ghz hence *sigh*

But dont let the Santa Clara giant be underestimated, they still are market leaders. And also the R&D team which developed the dothan core ( their Israel plant ) has got a huge surge in investment.

Though I am a die-hard AMD fan, something tells me Intel will kick back with vengeance. What Aces said above, is just something to start with. However they need to get into 64-bit really fast.

The Pentium 4 is Intel's NV30(high on features ,low on efficiency). They need a NV40 for redemption. That NV40 is the Pentium-M(Dothan) which is a very fast and improved Tualatin P-3.
But Intel will still suck b'coz of high prices.I bought a 2000+ almost two years back for just over 4k its still going strong for me after a good 20% oc.Intel can never give such vfm.Only reason I bought two P-3s was b'coz back then decent AMD mobos were very hard to find in NP.
Besides I think many will agree an "Athlon" sticker on ur cabby has much greater respectability than a "P-4" one. :p

even AMD..... If a single pin is bent then the system will not boot at all.... I had this problem..... then finally using some very thing blades and screwdrivers, I straightened that pin. That particular pin was bent 90 degrees. I mean, it sat into the socket with no problem. Then when the system was not booting, I took apart the system and noticed that one pin was lying flat against the base of the CPU.

So, this is a problem with every damn processor on the market...... not only Intel

LGA 775 is physically more prone to damage due to hormonal imbalances that accompany sex-change(male to female conversion).
Tom's had a good write-up on this issue and they estimated that 15-20 was the *max* no. of reinsertions(! ;) ) that the socket would sustain.I know many of us exceed that number easily.

I agree to this , will love to see the AMD Logo on my Cabby than a Intel Logo anytime.
Intel will have to do some miracle to get AMD out from my mind.

But whatever we say Intel is the Nokia of PC world. My friend's P3 second hand with Intel 815 mobo was worth more then an AXP 1800+ with Asus a7n266 at the reseller market at Laminton road.

^^Lol ....tht is indeed very very true......
Guys at Lammy price AMD very very low whn selling second hand.
say it has no takers:S

But for me at the moment AMD rules price/performance (except dual cores)
even in dual cores takin into acc. ddr2 ram new mobo AMD rules :p

Most people in NP and Lamington Road deserve death after excruciating torture anyway ,due to their crimes against the Indian computer users.
AMD is best sold online.I am sure no one here will give more for a P-3 than AXP 1800+.
The analogy with Nokia is only correct to an extent.Coz in most cases Nokia offers more vfm in comparison with SE and others.

amd does have high resale value only if the buyer knows about it..my 2 ans a half year old atlon 2400+, a7n266vm , 3 year old mx440 se etc.. sold for 8k ..,
there are still so many people who have absolutely no clue what AMD is !! i`m not kidding.... i was the only guy in my class of 60 people to have a n amd system untilapril this year.. got a couple of my friends on amd systems and they are happy with it :)
amd is definately good for gaming. i think this trend started from the AMd k6-3 processor( my second system) .. when i added my geforce 4 mx to it it used to beat the crap out of all intel system around 550 mhz!!! ...

not really.
Athlon Xps were prices considerably lower to start with. They were way cheaper than P4s. So i am not shocked to see that they have lower resale value.
Same goes with S754 now. Its dirt cheap solution.
S939 has very good resale value.
