Recently my CPU apparently started heating up and fan speeds went really high upto 3500 RPM. I'm planning to re-apply the thermal paste. It's an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T that came as part of a Dell desktop, with a Cooler Master CPU cooler.

Is it okay to buy the following single use unbranded thermal paste syringe from eBay?

HC-151 HIGH CONDUCTIVITY THERMAL PASTE 1g SYRINGE - FOR CPU & GRAPHIC CARDS | eBay

Or should I go for this one from Deepcool?

DEEPCOOL Z3 High Performance Laptop PC CPU VGA AGP Graphics Thermal Compound | eBay

Unbranded pastes are available starting at Rs 80 at Lamington Rd. in Mumbai. Of course, your expectations should also be controlled keeping the same in mind. Why take a chance? Better invest in a good one, or look among forum members if someone is willing to share a bit of a good paste at a shared price.

Okay. I shall go for the one from Deepcool.

From what I can tell from rising CPU temps and heatsink fan speeds, most of the thermal paste has dried up. It will not be necessary to clean off what's left of the existing thermal paste, will it?

There will certainly be some residue on the heat sink contact surface and the processor therefore it is necessary to clean it before applying the thermal paste.
Just clean the surface with a soft lint free cloth to obtain a nice shiny surface and then you can apply the paste.

Is isopropyl alcohol required? I don't know where I can get it. :/

Although it is good it is not necessary, you can get along without it.
You can get it at local chemist/pharmacist or even at electrical/electronics store.
