I have this charger for my phone, its a basic Sony Ericsson J132. I was wondering if i could charge my sansa clip+ with this charger? I tried yesterday and it did charge it pretty fast, within minutes the sansa battery said 28% already done from 0. Was wondering if it is safe for the clip.

TIA.

Motorola chargers with the mini-USB port works well with these Samsa players. Had used it when I had my Clip+ back then. The amperage rating should be more or less similar for these devices so it's safe.

Or I assume it is. :P

*yay! 8000th post!* :D

I charge my sansa clip+ with my roomie's FLY mobile's charger (mini USB) and it works fine and charges also fast.

But remember to boot in to original firmware and do else it wont charge. (I am assuming you have Rockbox also installed)

Can't assume, i am skeptical as it charged the sansa very fast, within minutes it went from 0% to 24% then i checked again next second it was 28%!

I think you did install rockbox right ??? :S You had mentioned in the rockbox thread

Yes it is perfectly safe to charge using a phone wall charger. I myself am using a Motorola charger. Other phone chargers like Blackberry also work.

Wall chargers will charge your player faster because they give full 6V. USB charging from PC on the other hand has slightly lower and is around ~5V.

Yep... usb is 4-5V approx.

Universal Serial Bus (USB) - HwB

Thanks.

There are two things you need to check. The voltage and the amperage. The voltage is generally 5V but the amperage varies. If your device is rated at 5V, 500mAh; using a 5V, 850mAh charger will surely charge it faster.

Just make sure the difference isn't too much. Or it can burn some holes somewhere :P
