@jdn : I have W810i but sorry still in use and in love with us..:)
That's a good piece of hardware you got. I am using a w580, but unfortunately its not compatible with my project.
Have you tried and driver/firmware mods in it?

What are you going to use it for?
Interfacing with PC and sending/receiving SMS?
A friend used Nokia 5130 for that. He said he was able to communicate with it using HyperTerminal(Win XP) and it did respond to AT commands.

@hotshot05
I want it to interface with a microcontroller, preferably arduino. These phones listed have a TTL serial interface, but newer phones have USB which is very difficult to implement and out of my knowledge.
I heard nokia uses another protocol ,not AT commands (they always hate standards eg:andriod).

Why not buy a SIM300/900 breakout board?

GPS/GSM/GPRS : Probots - India's Electronics and Robotics Superstore
or
GSM Kit SIM 300 Based-RS232 [SIM-300 GSM Modem-RS232] - Price - Rs.1,900.00 : Ventor Technologies, India's Embedded System Solutions and Electronic Components Online Shop
or
GSM-GPRS-GPS : :+: www.onlineTPS.com - Electronics and Robotics Components Shop - India, Components at your Doorstep - Satisfaction Guaranteed

If you buy directly from AliExpress, you can get if for much less. Only you will have to wait for 15-30 days to get your shipment delivered from China.

Nokia did not use Android since they had an OS of their own - Symbian OS. Today it may be a clunky OS but in its day, it was leaps and bounds better than the other OS's present in the market.

For a non-touchscreen phone, it still is the BEST OS.

@thomasjude47
not a 11pin port. thanks for reply.

Cost, my wallet is tiny.

Never bought from abroad before. No idea about the tax and stuff.

Rejection on andriod made Nokia below average player in smartphone market IMHO. But their entry level ones are still going strong.
Anyway its off topic.

Hi, if you have time and are successful in your project do give me details, using a old SE phone is a clever way rather than buying the expensive SIM shields, by the way I have a K610i, not listed but you can if it fits yours need, working with battery

@jdn Did you try the local chor bazaar or electronics market? Ask the people at the mobile repairing shops. Do not say that you are going to use it for a project, they will fleece you.
Choose 2-3 mobiles from the list that you have. Make up some story and ask the shopkeeper if he can find you one of these mobiles.
