As it says, Omai.. What have I done..

Well, since my X800XL died (Still in Warranty, going to USA for RMA :p)

I was using TechHeads X800GTO2. Which I though id return, since I dont think ill be upgrading to an 88 or a HD soon.. So...

I bought this..

8500GT :ashamed:







Notice the EVGA on the XFX Box :p.

Damage was 5.3k (Mumbai's higher prices :mad:)...

I can tell you out of the Box, the 8500GT, kinda sucks.

Performance is way below a X800XL / X800GTO2.

Eg. I play CSS with the X800XL using 2x/4xAA and 16x AF, all high, @ 800*600. With thie 8500GT, for performance to be on par, I cant use AA/AF at all, but everything else all high settings. :(.

But you forgot to mention that you
1. Didnt bargain for the price:bleh:
2. Said that the "Card is too heavy" when you took it out of the box.
3. Agreed that the performance sucked @ Prime:tongue:

Lol.. Yea 4got the mention I bumped into XT @ Prime.

1st, Heavy for such a tiny card =X...

2nd, I didnt wanna waste time bargaining with Meenal/GB for 100 bux.

3rd, Yea, But I though it was better than the performance I got :p.

It is a temp. stopover. Im not sure what Im doing yet.

@ nVidiabeast,

Idling around 56-60C, Loaded around 70-73C. Stock Cooler, Dynamic Fan speeds. Card running @ 520/475 as opposed to 450/400 Stock.
 
Well, 485 is the Max Ive gotten on Memory. So thats why Im using now.

Temps have gone upto 80C Load now. I guess thats still safe.

Still 520Mhz, going for more :p.

Edit : 550/485 Now. Still 80C Load. Bah, Summer Afternoon Ambient High temps. :(.
 
Well, for 5k its a good enough Card. Cant say Bang for buck. Right now, bang for buck would still be 7600GT, for 7k I guess.

Overclocked @ 560/485 now load temps are staying the same. I cant control the Fan speed unfortunately thru ATiTool. RivaTuner is a bit too complex for me to cpmprehend. Lol.

Dont know about DX10 Performance. Ill be install Vista again now.

Ive clean formatted my system. So...

Whoa.. This card is a monster..

Past Artifact Testing over 3 mins now.. I guess Ill go do a couple of Game Tests now.. @ 570/485..



Edit : Just played 15 mins of CS Source. Card is OC Stable @ 570/485 :D.
 
Thats what I meant.

Prices in Mumbai are ridiculously higher than Delhi/Bangalore/Chennai prices due to the crappy Octroi and VAT.

Btw.. 600/485 Stable now :D.
 
CS Source ;). More than enough. It works fine even at those high Core clocks.

Ill be testing it later with 3D Mark, etc. So lets see.
 
^ running it on stock cooler or u blowing / sucking air into / outta it using some fan or mod ?
edit : if not then try doing so ..a 80mm fan or something will reduce temps quite a bit
