I m using a ASUS WL-520g wireless router
My comp has a D-link wi-fi card

They recognize each other and get connected.
But.....

the connection lasts only for a few seconds.
Then the D-link scans again...and tries to connect with the router. they connect and the same cycle is repeated...

its very frustrating:@

tried a whole lot of things...

changed the channels....
kept them next to each other

nothing helps

Which software are you using? If you'r using Intel ProSetG wireless then try setting it to manual connect and connect it on your own. Also, you can try giving your own ip address.

Hmm... may be this one ain't a software issue... more of a hardware issue.

Wifi are known to be flaky about radio interference. Do you have anything (Cordless phone, Power source (adaptors), Microwave overn) near the wifi router/ Card? Near means about 1-2 feets? If they are there, try a combination of them (turn them off) and lets us know.

^ I have cordless phone, adaptors near my wifi connection. Nothing interferes as the wifi works on 2.4Ghz (right?) .

I have heard of things you have connection issues because the wi-fi card and router are of different brands.. don't know how far its true in your case.. maybe you could give it a dry run with a different wi-fi card?
