Do you have any warranty left on the board? If your onboard LAN died due to a lightning surge, its probably not the only component thats fried.

Another silly question - have you tried testing the LAN card in different PCI slots on your board?

hmm i got a similar problem( on onboard lan) ...only that mine is detectable ... only problem it thinks that the network cabe is plugged in even if it is not :S..its got ghosts in it !!! anyone knows what the problem is .. i think it came abt because of a surge too ...

@crazy_eddy

I tried the external lan card in diff pci slots too.. but to no avail !!

And yes.. no warranty left ! :-(

Any suggestions ??

Or do i hav to take it for repairs ?

Do you have any other PCI devices on hand - like a sound card, TV tuner etc? Try testing with another PCI device, if it doesnt work then you can be sure its your board thats got issues.

@ super_saiyan

The card does get detected as an 'Ethernet Controller'

But does not accept seemingly 'good' drivers !!

@ crazy_eddy

I think the pci 56k modem also stopped wrkin..

Will hav to double chk on tht though !!

Will post a reply tonite...

Until then ... please keep ur suggestions coming !!

@chaos

Is there any chance it can be repaired ??

And yes.. i think the boards under a 3year warranty.. and its not done 3yrs yet.. Will the service center ppl replace it ??
