Market Feedback Ongoing deal with a member declared fraudulent

Did you not ask for his phone number before making the payment? Never make payment without getting the phone number, it's far too easy for people to disappear from these forums. With their phone number, you can at least call them up from an unknown number to get a response, if they're ghosting you.

For now, see if Freecharge has a message option based on UPI ID.

I dont want to come off as rude, but i dont understand why you would pay someone advance when they have no feedback.
Atleast you should have asked for some id like aadhar along with paying to a bank acc instead of upi.
As for the seller, he seems to be a repeated scammer in the forum.(Mods made a post in a thread regarding the same)
There is a very slim chance of you recovering the money, unless you go the legal action route .
Do try reaching out to the person if u have contact no.

From what I have read about patrons, generally when they make payment for patron tier, their bank details are fetched/stored.
Maybe the admins can help you in this regard, as I believe there must be some safeguard in these patron member trades. Otherwise, anyone with 150rs to spare can dupe members here for thousands.

PS- As a rule of thumb, avoid dealing with 0% rating patrons, but if you really need the trade then ask them to ship and pay once it reaches you.
Or, ask them to ship to a friend of theirs in your city, and you can collect it in person from there.

Scammer has a history ?
Like @PunkX 75 mentioned here...
Guess he didn't get banned soon enough..

Yes that possibility is always there. Getting a Patron badge is easy and not a deterrent for scammers.
Only for Resellers, some kind of identity proof needs to be furnished. But even that is not foolproof.
The buyer needs to do due diligence and keep a lookout for red flags. If it's too good to be true, then better to walk away. For high value items, a F2F deal is the best option.
These scammers will keep trying to get into the TE marketplace by various means - changing names, personal info, etc. They may even do a few small genuine deals initially but all it needs is one high value deal to scam. Better to check all the info against the sticky list of scammers.

Update, received an Indiapost Tracking number via SMS from Indiapost and item seems to be on its way. However the point still holds that I am an idiot for doing the full advance payment
I somehow thought it said mod instead of patron :( :(
In case there is an issue with the product, kindly send me the details of the person @mods

Let us know when you get the product and most important make an unboxing video. Secondly trust people who have made couple of selling deals and check the members who they have sold to, Are those newbies or some senior member. A senior member would normally do due diligence or you can ask them how was the experience of dealing for XYZ member.

So I have an ongoing deal with @mk_stallion for a rtx 2060 card that I have made the payment to his upi 06469mk@freecharge but not yet received the tracking number for.
His name is Mahendra Kumar Singh as per upi and he lives in Delhi as per the thread
https://techenclave.com/threads/hp-oem-rtx-2060-6gb.219422/

Now that he is banned, what should be my next steps here?
I too approached him for the card but luckily, I saw that he is banned and instantly deleted my conversation with him.

This, 100%.

It's very important to also check the people they have dealt with, as well. I have seen instances where they create a sale thread, and they comment on their own thread (using a 2nd account) asking if the item is available and that they're interested in buying. They sell to themselves and exchange "feedback", making the deal seem genuine. This was before the classfields recruit ban came into place.

Makes sense, red is usually a color associated with admins/mods on most forums. Patron badge needs to be visually nerfed so people understand that it is easy to get. Maybe keep a recruit badge under the patron badge to indicate when someone is a new member.
this was the reason for any product I sold I didn't take any payment upfront only when the buyer tested it I asked for the payment ..

But recently I made a deal on another forum and sold him 3 products he paid for 1, I shipped the items as goodwill he received the products and now from last 4 days he has not responded to any calls and messages, am looking at a loss of 8k .

I feel the buyer should pay first unless he has a good reputation. No one knows when someone gets greedy. I think the commitment for payment before the deal might not be there after the deal because now the 'need' is replaced by 'greed'.

Also Admin method in facebook sounds an interesting concept. Never tried it though.

I have unbanned him, so you can communicate with him.
@mk_stallion refund him ASAP.

You can check the Members tab to see a list of mods :-

In that sense nobody should deal with newbies esp. having zero market rating. Not everyone is a duper.
Atleast you should have asked for some id like aadhar along with paying to a bank acc instead of upi.
Nobody will provide that incl you and me. And this isn't a govt. platform unless mods decides otherwise making it a mandate.

He is the same person who insulted admins/mods just 2 days ago in one thread.
From what I have read about patrons, generally when they make payment for patron tier, their bank details are fetched/stored.
And also, noob patrons feel they are similar to admins and say anything around insulting people showing off their badges as if they are in some biz class crap while rest members belong to lower class.
I too approached him for the card but luckily, I saw that he is banned and instantly deleted my conversation with him.
This! Never delete any conversation. It might be helpful for an innocent member in defense just in case someone gets duped.
broadband.forum
Inform the mods/admins there as well mentioning the scenario of this forum.

Safest bet while dealing with a newbie/patron or anyone having zero market rating is to tag some mod in that conversation to at least have transparency rather than then defending using calls and running through those tedious WhatsApp messages.

Hope you receiver your product soon! Please don't forget to make the unboxing video. A clean, uncut complete video showing the full unboxing of the GPU.
