Now that my bedroom home theatre project is over, I am planning for a 42" LCD (80k or below 720p) for the living room and a decent home theatre to go with it. I found Onkyo HT-S990THX for 60k at HomeTown. My question is how good is this 7.1 system, is the price good or can I get it any better? Is there any other combo in 50-60k budget that you can suggest, and hopefully a place in Delhi where I can go see it. Thanks in advance and keep your sugestions pouring. While you are at it, might as well recommend me a LCD in my budget.

u can buy the new av recievers from Onkyo which support DTS HD,DD hd etc. and buy seperate speakers .instead of buying the old HT-S990THX .
buying a 40+inch 720p lcd is a bad idea IMO.reason well take for examle a 21 crt will have a pixel density of 1598 pixels / sq. inch where as a lcd such as a 40inch 1366*768 will have a pixel density of 1535 pixels / sq. inch so u better sit realy far behind because the picture will look only as good as a 21inch tv.
but a 40inch 1080 will have a pixel density of 3035 pixels / sq. inch.
a 32inch 720p lcd will have a pixel density of 2399 pixels / sq. inch. so IMO if u are buying a lcd such as a 40inch make sure u buy a 1080p or buy a smaller lcd.

??
Wrong. Plain wrong.. when did pixel density play a part? I take it you haven't seen 720p video on a 40" LCD?It depends on viewing distances, not pixel density!

i have seen 720p videos ,as well as 1080p videos on a 768p lcd and a 1080p lcd.i did mention that u have to sit further.now u better watch a 1080p video on 1080p screen and u will know what i am talking about.if u want sit close then u need a higher resolutions screen.

In that budget, get a Denon receiver with a wharfedale/sonodyne speaker set. Onkyo makes a lot of crap these days.

Could you mention Denon make and model number? Does it have HDMI input, how much would it set me back.... From what I have read wharfedal 9.1 seem to be a favorite of the forum for 12k a pair... that makes it 24k for 4 speakers. How much would the center speaker and sub cost? and from which company should I buy these.
Can someone split all components with prices so that I can see how it fits in my 60k budget.... Thanks for all your replies in advance.

Get a wharfedale moviestar 70+ speaker system and whatever best denon/marantz you can get in the rest of the money.
