Yep, in terms of SQ these cheap ones are right up there. It's mostly down to sound signature preference (which can be easily managed with equalization), build quality and fitment these days. You can look at the Truthear Gate or the Salnotes Zero or the Crinacle Zero Red. They have been objectively reviewed pretty well.

It totally depends on what you want from the IEMs. The objective reviews (based on frequency response and such) have never met my expectations in real life. I have always been disappointed with the options below 3k and had to leave that price range. Also, I am not sure why they make these things so fragile at that price range, as the cables nearly always give way within a year.

Also, doesn't seem like a sale. They usually put up unboxed products at the price they are selling now.

While I can understand the build aspect which I also ascribed to earlier, I also recognize the subjective bias as we are humans after all.
As far as SQ go, it is a solved problem especially if you can equalize the EP to your taste.
The build and the cables, well, that is a different conversation and will vary from person to person's usage. I agree though that the build for the cheaper ones leave a lot to desire if we are using it regularly.
