I have an SBI bank account and I today i applied for internet banking in the bank . I was given a letter which contains the user id and password . However when i open the login page and enter the details it displays Invalid UserId/Pass . However the strange part is that when after entering details , i click on login , the password field shows twice the number of asterixes than my password , i found this very strange . I have tried on all browsers and the same thing happened ? Anyone with OnlineSBI can conforim whether this happens ?
 
Yes, when you put in the password, the java applet will encrypt the password and it appears that it has added a lot of characters to it. That is normal.

Make sure you are typing the password as it is. It is case sensitive.

I find it strange. In Shillong, we can get everything related to SBI's Internet Banking done in 5 mins. if we visit the bank. Be it new account creation, transaction rights, changes, approval. However, I have heard that in metros, you have to wait for days at end to get things moving related to SBI Net Banking!
 
Oh , the letter states "Your account will be activated for service in a few days" , maybe thats the problem
 
I have similar problems.. I have bought 3 internet banking kits from the sbi bank but none are working. Everytime it displays Invalid userid/pwd huh..And the guy concerned knows nothing about it.
 
yes the password field adds a lot of characters

its a encryption method

if it is showing Invalid userid/pwd then most probably the backoffice guys have not activated the userid
 
they take time to update the username/passwoed with the account..they have presealed envelopes with an id which is later tagged to account when given away to customer...takes time to get updated ..try after two days..i was able to do so after two days
 
Every State Bank branch has a Deputy Manager (Demat Service, Internet Banking, Western Union Money Transfer). Atleast we in Shillong have one in every branch here. He is responsible for all Internet Banking related matters. Contact him. He will be able to help you. Also, when you go to meet him, ask him to reset your account and he will issue you a new kit. When he has activated it, you can request him to allow you to access your account from there only. If there is a problem, he will help you immediately.
 
You just have to wait its SBI after all. My account got activated almost 2 weeks after i got that user/pass. Let me warn you that calling on helpling or home branch has NO EFFECT :P so don't waste time. Try after a week or so.
 
I too had similar problems SBT initially and they were rectified after visiting the bank twice. Also IIRC, it takes few days as already mentioned. And after all it is a PSU.:@
