OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is exploring making its own artificial intelligence chips and has gone as far as evaluating a potential acquisition target, according to people familiar with the company’s plans.
 
Exclusive: OpenAI plans major updates to lure developers with lower costs, sources say

OpenAI is planning on reducing their API costs by as much as 20X by implementing memory storage and adding VISION capabilities, so that developers can add the ability for their AI to also analyze images and describe them.

The updates should be announced Nov 6 during OpenAI’s first developer conference in San Francisco.
