My old Sennheisers were nearing their end of life, so managed to procure my first open back cans, the Audio Technica ATH AD500X, from Amazon US.

Got it for CS mainly, did a lot of research on the "gaming headphones" and it seems that a good open headphone with a big soundstage is usually better than most of them. Also listen to a lot of music, pretty good for that.

Some more updates. This is one good set of cans. I am just a pleb in musical stuff, but even I could tell the difference between my Sennheiser HD 202 and the AD500X. The mids and highs are so much clearer and overall enjoyable to hear. The bass is nice and tight, was a bit concerned about that, but it's fine for me at least. And it's comfortable. I have a big head and this fits perfectly. My speakers rarely get used now, am using it for 4-6 hours with no discomfort. However, this might slip down a smaller head. In that case you need to clip a small rubberband between the wings.

I need a place to keep it now. It's quite big, so I might get a stand. The router will suffice for now.

I have an A500X which comes with pleather/PU pads and have done just the rubber band mod- will get velour or gel pads for it. [DOUBLEPOST=1439035015][/DOUBLEPOST]And yes, I have heard of a lot of people who use/prefer AD700/AD700X for gaming, even more than pricier gaming headsets.
Audio Technica has a gaming series built on the A/AD series- either this a relatively newer development or I might have not noticed earlier.
