Dude, read the full link before commenting...

This is awesome news @rahulhbk and the screenshots are superb! (repped u!)

And everyone thought that OpenGL was dead!

If all game developers start using OpenGL 2.1/3.0 instead of DirectX 10 (DX 10 runs only on Vista), they can support different platforms instead of just one (PS3 also uses a subset of OpenGL) and can earn loads of revenue. If they stick to Vista, only people with Vista will buy and play the game.

But the problem is that the game companies are not willing to take this risk and this is really unfortunate.

This is even sad for gamers bcoz they'll have to buy Windows Vista in order to play the latest DX10 games.

Check out these awesome "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" screenshots. Quake wars is based on OpenGL:

OPEN GL FTW :)

somehow i foung Direct X to be far more easy than open GL when i used it. Even though it was just some basic shape rendering stuff nothing hifi.

i had also studied OpenGL and it wasn't too difficult. One improvement that they can do is provide higher level APIs that can make the basic things easier to program.
