Claims to be "Fastest Browser on Earth" :ohyeah:
Opera Software released on Tuesday its Opera 10.50 Web browser, calling it the fastest browser ever produced for Windows computers.

Available at Opera's Web site the browser features the Carakan JavaScript engine as well as the Vega graphics library. Users no longer have to wait for a site to load, the company said. Other features include a refined design and private browsing, Opera said. A new menu button replaces the traditional menu bar, providing single-point access to Opera features.

Easily the fastest, and for me, the best browser at the moment :D ... been hearing about this being a major update, and so far it hasn't disappointed :)

@Amien : 10.10<10.50 :P

A bit late eh? Im on 10.10 for quite sometime now.
Thanks for sharing though, it is a great browser indeed. :)

This is 10.5 and not 10.05 ;)
So it is a newer version than 10.10.

I'll be updating my beta to the final version. And yes, what they claim is true, Opera is the fastest browser on Earth. :D

1) Opera has a builtin download manager that can resume even after restarting the browser. Manages to saturate the connection fairly quickly.

2) Opera has the best adblock interface ever.

3) A lot of Greasemonkey scripts work too. Opera was the first to support user js I think.

Most of the stuff that FF needs plugins for, is already built into Opera.

what do u guys use to substitute for FF plugins..?

Opera doesn't need any add-ons.

It has Built-in Adblock, Cookie Editor, CSS applier, IRC client, Mail client, Opera Unite (best way to share your things), BitTorrent downloader. :ohyeah: hehe, it's download manager can actually resume teh "interrupted" downloads unlike Firefox. So, you don't actually need DownThemAll. You can also use your own JavaScripts just like using Greasemonkey in Firefox.

Moreover, you can also make Opera identify itself as "Internet Explorer" or even "Firefox" if you want it to work with certain websites.

An important thing to note is that, Opera is only ~9MB. :)

It also has Opera Turbo which can be used if you are on a slow connection like dial-up.

Opera Turbo is the shit.

You know those NSFW babe threads that tech forums have? And you know how they are usually 20-25mb per page because everyone has to post 3000x3000 JPGs?
Well, Opera Turbo makes them 2mb per page :).

Sure the quality gets reduced a lot, but who wants to wait for 25mb worth of images to finish loading fully on a measly 1Mbit line just so you can give them a cursory glance.

Not to mention that it works as a completely transparent and ad-free proxy server as well :).

today also i faced problem while access redifmail, after login i get an error message as cookies not enable in the browser. But cookies is enable, so please help

Opera 10.50 Security Vulnerability

A security vulnerability in Opera 10.50 and previous versions of the web browser was uncovered by security research company VUPEN Security. The issue is caused by a buffer overflow error when the user visits a website with malformed HTTP headers. The security vulnerability has been confirmed to be working on Opera 10.50 for Windows XP SP3 with the likelihood that other operating systems and Opera versions are affected as well.

I had the same problem with Facebook and Rediffmail a few days back. Just goto your preferences->advanced->cookies->manage cookies and delete the rediff cookie. Then try again, it will be fixed.

thanks pal for your concern, but this is not working.

These might seem to be nitpicking but these are some of the problems I noticed.

1. Yahoomail and Hotmail are still running a bit sluggishly on this release.

2. To top it all pressing the Escape button to get rid of the popup to save password after signing in is no longer present instead now I have to click on never.

3. The mouse pointer has to be placed on the close button unlike before where you could just swing to the right top corner with the mouse cursor out of the view and you could still close it. It still works on the other browser but not on this. Watch out for folks nearby if you are visiting a pron site :ashamed:

Ok...I've installed Opera since FF is buggy with FB chat...Now how do I successfully block ads.

EDIT : Used the urlfilter list and am adfree. Opera is pretty good but it still has its problem with fb chat. Does anyone notice that while your typing if someone send something the cursor goes away.
