I am surprised no one mentioned this here though it has been on TV..

Meeruts's police had started an operation which they called 'operation majnu', which was supposed to harass the couples in the park. Cops were seen punching and pulling girl(s) by their hair.

What!! sitting in a park with a male friend and that too holding hands... they should be hanged!
We need to cleanse our society of such evil, as love, which makes our generation indecent. HOLDING HANDS!! and that too in a park when they should not even be talking to each other. Oh god where is the world leading to. I urge all TE members to understand the moral implications of such heinous acts and respect and support the meerut police (and perhaps many more) in this noble drive and thrash any couple they find.

rofl .. i saw it in the paper today .. they used to pull stunts like this in chennai as well last time lamers

I guess all the criminals are behind bars in meerut, so to do some timepass they did operation majnu.

I saw that on India Tv....Rajat Sharma made a really good statement....

What kind of law do we have in our country where criminals such as Abu Salem are not beaten but lovers in a park are beaten up

What i want to know is what is a legal reaction to such atrocities as they happen. Supposing a police officer is attack/manhandling you or someone nearby for no reason, does Indian law permit citizens to react, to defend? One of the fundamental human rights is the right to security.

What would you have done in a situation like that? Hot headed as i am, i dont think i would have just taken it. I probably would have lost it right there, but what would the consequences be to such a situation?

@GM --- Interesting question. The thing is even if the law is on your side, it may not help. These people have the power of the uniform. They can make life hell for you and unless you have some really powerful contacts, there is not a damn thing you can do abt it.

The Phras "the Law is an ass" is true in our country. Very rarely is justice given the way it should be. How is it that Lalu Yadav is Railway minister in spite of eating 900Crore Rs in the Fodder scam?? He is just one. There are doznes of others.

@Grease Monk... buddy you might just be cooling your heals in some jail.. and most prolly get beaten up more by the cops in there for misbehaving/hitting a cop!!! :(

its really sad to know..... they banned A rated movies from being shown on tv.. i wonder .. if we would all grow up to live in a fake world of saas-bahu`s fcking soaps and start living fake lives too!!!

coming back to this incident.. well.. what to say... everyone knows the police is no good. they cant catch the crooks .. instead most of them connive with the crooks to commit crimes!!! .. so to show that they can do some good.. they carrying out such operations.. which only do more harm to people then good!!

wonder if people have the courage to take to the streets to stop this shitty moral policing for ever!! protest march anyone???
