Storage Solutions Opinion wanted on on Verbatim 500 GB External hard disk

Hi guys,

I want your opinion on the Verbatim 500 GB external hard disk. this comes slightly cheaper than seagate 500 Gb. I'm looking at this offer from tradeus.in

Verbatim 500GB 2.5" Portable Hard Drive - Pocket mini size hard drive -140 gm | Tradus

There are other hard drives from Toshiba & Amkette at around the same price http://www.tradus.in/search/tradus_search/seagate gb portable hard drive.

Is it worth going for the slightly inexpensive hard drives ( about 20% difference in price)? Or should I put in some more money & go for the seagate/WD

I'm looking at using the Verbatim as a backup device and this won't be put in active use..

I think if your use is just for storage the Verbatim is good......

According to me safest brands are Seagate,WD,Buffalo,Verbatim,Transcend....

My exp. with WD has been good still I think based on current A.S.S Seagate should be no. 1 and WD no. 2; better go with these two than Verbatim.

I think the service is the most important point. e.g. transcend and buffalo both are the same service tie up as seagate - accel frontline

Who handles verb warranty?
