Oppo on Wednesday launched the Oppo Joy smartphone, its 3G-enabled budget offering, in the Indian market at Rs. 8,990. Earlier the smartphone was launched for the Indonesian market at IDR 1,699,000 (approximately Rs. 8,900).
"There is a scarcity of affordable smartphones with high-end features in India. The new Oppo Joy will go a long way in bridging this gap and making more and more people enjoy the feeling of possessing a smartphone in the true sense," said Mr. Tom Lu, CEO, Oppo India.
The Oppo Joy is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone that runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean layered with the firm's native ColorOS skin. It comes with a 4-inch display with a WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution. The screen also flaunts a 'Gloves Mode' technology where the users can use the touchscreen while wearing gloves.
A dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor powers the smartphone, clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 512MB of RAM and a Mali 400 GPU for graphics. The Oppo Joy sports a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard.
The handset comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB). The wireless connectivity options included in the Oppo Joy are 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Oppo Joy is backed by a 1700mAh battery, measures 124x63x9.9mm and weighs 125 grams. The smartphone comes in Black and White colour variants.
