Pls tell me how much does a decent optical cable cost for surround sound.Need it for a friend who purchased an Onkyo HTiB.
Also suggest any brands if possible.
Budget Rs500 to 1K max.
 
Just get any rca cable and use coax. Its hard to find optical locally and it offers no real benefit.
 
You should be able to find optical cables at all the major music stores from brands like philips, and they will be priced at around 500-1000k. The average optical cables are abt 1 meter in lenght, which might be too short, so make sure you check the cable lenght before purchasing.
 
Get the MX toslink cable. I got it for about 300 bucks (1.5m) a couple of months back from MX dealer (SONI Electricals or something) in Delhi.

They are made for devices which don't have SPDIF. If you have coax SPDIF, better use that cos Toslink is inherently higher jitter. If your equipment is revealing enough, you can potentially hear the difference.
