Optical out on Xonar DX

I need to know something urgently.
Would any standard miniplug to toslink convertor work instead of the SPDIF adapter that Asus provides with the xonar DX cards ?
xonar owners .. please help !
 
Sure. It's just a metal tube with a hollow center and a piece of transparent plastic, there's no electrical circuitry at all in that adapter, so any old one (meant usually for laptops with optical out, a rare breed) will work fine. It just creates a mechanical connection.
