Optimizing case cooling

My case is a cooler master elite 430. My CPU is a Phenom B55 OCed to 3.7 Ghz. and CPU HSF is CM 212+. In my setup the CPU fan (blademaster) blows cool air from the top intake on to the heatsink. The top two intakes are now blocked in this setup. There is a front intake fan and rear exhaust (blademaster). I have one extra blademaster fan, which I initially configured as a bottom intake fan in the hope that cool air gets blown on to the GPU. But, this resulted in no decrease in temperature of the GPU. Then I configured it as side exhaust, but this too results in no temperature decrease. Can anyone tell me how I can optimize my setup to acheive better cooling?

The exhaust should always be at the top considering the fact that hot air will always rise up. Where is ur cabinet placed? ? Is there sufficient ventilation space on the sides/back and top? (atleast 10cm...more is better).

From SilverStone Technology Co., Ltd - How to arrange airflow in your system it seems having top and back exhausts is a bad idea. I tried bottom intake, but it also has no reduction in temperature.
Ya, that guide says so, but you should consider your cabinet specifically for this.

Since top two intakes are blocked, you should try to use them as exhaust. You can try to use one as intake and other as exhaust. Try using top fan at back for exhaust and top fan at front(mid actually) as intake.

Intake from side is definitely gonna help.

If you can use some gettho method, try adding second fan at front for intake. You can fit this fan in 5.2" drive bays.

As you can see from above picture, I have added two extra fan at front for intake, on of them is 80mm. I have used tags to fit fan in place. This works very well.

Thanks for all the help. I have setup side exhaust and this brings the GPU temp down by 3 degrees in furmark. I must clarify what I meant by the top intakes are blocked. There are actually no fans setup there as there is no space. The CM 212+ and it's fan are blocking the space. I am using a micro-atx motherboard, and it is probably because of this that there is no sapce left at the top, after installing CM 212+.

If you want to install fan on top, then your only option is to attach a fan at top from outside, where one must use fan guard.

I think, installing side fan for intake will give better performance. Try if you can squeeze in fan in front 5.2" bays for intake.
