Original & Fake PS2 Controllers?

How does one go about differentiating between an original and a fake controller?

Besides the fact that the fake ones sell for 'bout 250'ish and Originals sell for around 600, how can one be certain that the "Original" isn't infact a fake?

I'm confused, and can't find any info on google.

Any of u experienced PS2 foo's got an idea?
 
They are lighter....they wear out faster...they are flimsy....the buttons get spoilt much faster....basically, its bad, realy realy bad.

Just get a ORIGINAL Dual Shock Controller from an authorised electronics or gaming store.
 
as far as my observation, the fake ps2 controller really sucks a$$. the buttons are flimzy and if ur a regular original ps2 controller player, u'd know that theres a slight lag when it comes to the pressure sensitive controls. when i mean slight, i mean realllly minute, but u know its there.

also this ps2 engg i know told me thers a cheaper IC used in the fake ones, also another fact i've noticed that the original ps2 controllers have a much longer cable.

as for techie's Q; i dont understand by what do u mean by 'work for pc' ??\
 
you are right...it's very difficult to distinguish between an original and a fake controller as externally, there are no signs to diffrentiate between the two...

a local vendor once told me that one way (not 100% foolproof though) to check is to hold them up against light....

the original would show some granular shimmering on the panel area under the select/start key
 
^^ true i forgot to mention tht... the plastic feel is also quite diff.

but u can only make tht out only if u have both of them in hand, otherwise hard to tell.
 
Where are the original controllers usually available?? at sony showrooms??

wht are the prices for it??

Ive got 2 controlers ones R2 bttn got jacked the others analog sticks very rough
 
you'll get original controllers at your local modded PS2 vendor's place too

and should be arnd 600-700 ..Just make sure he doesn't palm off a fake one to you
 
I didn't want to know the pros and cons, wanted to know how to differenctiate b/w them.

Anyway, I own both it seems. The one I got with the PS2 that I picked up from the Market Section is a supposed fake. I picked up an original from Alfa for 500 IRS. They cost around 600'ish elsewhere. Fakes cost 250-300 outside, around 200 at Alfa.

I asked a vendor, when he claimed that my PS2 controller was a fake (the one that I got with the ps2, not from Alfa), I asked him how he knew. He said, when u twist the cord, the original ones cord twists upto atleast 200 Degrees, the fake ones don't even twist 90 degrees.

I came home and tested this out, and it was true. The one I got was a fake, the one I bought from Alfa was an original.

I have them both, I lookit them, their buttons, plastic etc, I see virtually no physical difference, not yet anyway. Sure, If i try harder and look for minute details, I might find some difference.

This is to help out anyone else who might need to / want to buy a new controller soon :P

^^LOL, but from what unrealistic says, it should be easy to distinguish between the two

I'll try it out myself tonight from home as I have known original and fake controllers

And yes, Sony World prices everything ridiculously over the top...Expect to pay no less than 2K or even more for a controller :P

WIAM........is the PS2 controller being able 2 be used in a PC as just like any other Game controller/game-pad(as for those manufactured for the PC by default)?
PLZ,Give me the benfit of my ignorance!:P
