i need headphones of the sort with band over the head
are there any good ones in 1k
ps whats the price of the philips models
ps would it work well with t sonic 610
i need it because my ears are hurting (using the earphones)

IMO circumaural headphones need too much power to be driven by the tiny T.610 (i know because i used them with the sony mdx-1000 and the volume is just about OK in a quiet environment).

I think the supra-aural ones that come with sony walkmans are better.

i use my HP 805 with my T610, and it can actually drive them louder than my office PC's onboard sound

but yes, an 805 is not practical to wear in all occasions :P

had no idea how impedance effected the volume
just googled it now
thanks @kumar
will see if i can get hp 805 thanks again greenhorn
["again" because he already helped me get charger for the player ;-) ]

ps. where do you want to use them? if it is while travelling, their smaller ones or something like the creative ep 230's might be helpful :)

thing is , the 805's arent suited for ANY kinda travel :P

get something like these instead :)

they all share the same drivers (i've heard at least half of them and they all sound the same )

they cost between 200 and 500 Rs . The sound quality is the same for all. just the construction of the headphones change. long cable , metal headband /foldable construction etc

one more question greenhorn
u have the 610 but it does not have replaceable battery ?!?!!!
how long will the battery last (i mean when all charge-discharge cycles
have finally killed it for good) ?
and how to get battery changed then?

i bought mine last december, and have used it almost daily (when travelling to work and back ) so far the battery is holding up fine :)

had to reflash the player once or twice (due to memory getting corrupted)

the transcend website says that you can get the battery replaced by the dealers. Dont know if our dealers do that

i got my 610 in march 2006.The beattery is lasting for ~9-10 hrs with the ep-630 and around 5-6hrs with the sony walkman headphones.

smaller earphone drivers have to sound good AND have a good and flat frequency response, all this while being physically smaller. so some compromises are made. so they cant be very energy efficient. they may have low impedance, but that doesnt translate to high sound levels as sound level depends on efficiency too. technically, when impedance becomes half, sensitivity should increase by 3dB, but it isnt always so ;)

HP 805 is 104 dB and 32 Ω while the earbuds you linked to, despite being 16 Ω are only 102 dB

Sensitivity is what dictates loudness :)
