Guide Overburning DVDs

Just burned 4582MB onto a DVD+R. 100MB more than the 4482MB nominal capacity. Beautiful scans and readback: (thanks for the media, Masky ;))

How to do it:

1) Create an oversized .iso file, not exceeding 4600MB ( I use Nero's Image Recorder feature for this).

2)Use CDSpeed 4.10, from cdspeed2000.com, go to file->options ->transfer rate. There, put check marks on the boxes "Burn Image File", and "Overburn DVD". Put 4600MB in the box there.

3)If using a Benq drive, disable SolidBurn, WOPC and Overspeed.

4)Go to CDSpeed -> File -> Options->Standard Tests -> Write Speed, enter 8X there (safe speed on my TYs. Try 4X for lower quality media if 8X is an issue).

Go to CDSpeed main, press F9. It will ask you for the path to the image.. point it to the .iso or .nrg file you created earlier. Burn.

Check the transfer rate curve later, to ensure it's a good burn..

Here are my results:

Post your results here, and do include 2 things:

1)Burner and FW used
2) MEdia, and speed burned at, including the transfer curves.

er... with such massive amount of data, and cheap availability of dvd media... personally i'd rather bunch that extra 100mb elsewhere...

But thanks for the guide!
