I'm going to buy a gaming rig in a month

and i would like to know in what processor on simply i get 4ghz and above

going to buy p6t mob too

and noctua nh d14 cooler:D:D

i want to oc to hit 4gh
:eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah::mad::mad:[/SIZE]

yes,get a i7 950 it's available in india now at 15.4k.

i can assure you you can easily get 4.4GHz or above on air with it.. :)

i have used 920 and hit 4.0 ghz with 1.312v ..so even 920 and 930 both can hit 4.0ghz but surely 950 will do more than both ..

920-12k

930-14k

950-15.3k

If 920 can hit 4.2 k why buy 950??

i have a question

920 @ 3.06 ghz & 950 @ 3.06 ghz they perform same right ??

bet you would love to save 3k & invest it on SSD or CPU cooler or ram or SMPS !

so you are saying go with 950?

i googled and find that 950 has so many overclocking problems..

there they are suggesting 920 for overclock

now i'm confused

920 930 950 all the same chip , all will perform the same @ 4ghz. If you ask me I would have gone 950 to hit that few hundred mhz more simply for the satisfaction of it :D

But 920 and 950 will both hit 4ghz no problem so thats a 3.3k saving and that would be common sense. A word on the D14 it is undoubtedly the best air cooler but is also HUGE and will not be compatible with rams with tall heatsinks. VenX is a good alternative.

Since you aim to build a gaming rig the 3.3k saved can go towards a better gpu or bigger psu (that will let you SLI and Xfire later should you choose to)

Mobo I would reccomend Gigabyte UD3R over P6T , among X58 mobo's I think Gigabyte have the most solid and reliable boards.

Ok for OP which games are you planning to play , I7 920 or 930 wont make much of a difference in gaming , instead get a better GPU . And Overclocking a Cpu for no reason at all is a waste of valuable energy . I have learned my lesson .

what about ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58???

now i'm confused with ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 or ASUS P6t or Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R or ASUS RAMPAGE-II-GENE

hello :)

Umm my choice would be the sabertooth for sure. That is one sexy looking board. Not to mention its got the performance to back up the looks , and the component quality is very very good too. The sabertooth has some of the best components i have seen. the chokes are rated to 40 Amps each.. Normal chokes are rated to 25 amps. The Ceramic plating on the NB and SB really works and delivers cooler temps than most boards. In short this is my new VFM king.

If not the sabertooth then id look at the x58A-UD5.. more phases and better ( beefier) power delivery compared to the UD3R. Better power means a more stale o/c with less voltage required. Less Vdroop as well on these boards because of the much better power delivery and also, you get better temps because more phases are doing the work so they dont have to work as hard as say a board with 8-10 phases for power delivery.

Cheers !!

Sabertooth X58 also has 5 years warranty. :)

Here is a nice review-

ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 review

^One classy board it is. I am eyeing on this or the Gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev. 2.0 - both retail for the 13.5k mark IINM. :)

Ceramic heatsinks = win!

The 5 year warranty makes it an icing on the cake! :D

Whoa great price on the sabertooth , look at extra features to see what suits you best I guess, both boards will oc well with no hitches.
