OC & Modding Overclocking 3600+ X2 Windsor on DFi 790FX DK M2RS

hey guys

Need your help from any experts out here.

heres my config

3600 windsor proccy (90nm,256X2 L2) thermalright ultima 90

DFI 790FX M2RS

4 x 1 GB transcend jetram ddr2 800 JM800QLJ-1G,5-5-5-18-23-1.8v

corsair 620 HX
if i just go bumping up the FSB i get to

240 before system becomes unstable

2.4Ghz x2

HT=1200MHZ x2

at 1.37 volts .

memory>= 480 MHZ x2(4 x 1 GB transcend jetram ddr2 800 JM800QLJ-1G,5-5-5-18-23-1.8v)

At the above speeds the system runs stable 24x7
Recently i wanted to see what how much could i push the FSB

and i made it to 300 ,downed the multiplier to 8 and to my surprise it booted fine .

so this time

300x10x8=2.4 ghz

HT at 1500 MHz:S (read in some forums that athlon x2 runs stable at HT speeds betweek 1200 and 1400 .is it true ?)
And memory somewhere around 496 mhz

I could bump the FSB even till 310 :hap2: .

Now when i try to raise the multiplier to 8.5 the system will not POST

So i try to bring down my memory frequency to 667MHZ in bios

but still the system would not post.Tried 533 MHZ -no post ,400MHZ no post ( even tried setting mem timings manually bumped up the memory voltage to 2.2 weak drivers mode etc etc ) still the system refuses to post .
did a bit of research on the net found out someone got to 1050 MHZ

after setting timings to 5-6-6-16-25 at 2.2 volts .

tried the same timings system still does not boot at 300 fsb with multiplier 8.5 or 9.

so what do you guys think memory is the weak link or am i missing something here ?

if it is do you guys have any suggestions of any good overclocking freindly memory (2x2gb kits)?

thnx in advance for any help:)

i did try that too .but made no difference at 300 fsb when i change the multi to 8.5 or 9 the system would still refuse to post ,so i figured must be comething to do with memory ? also heard that athlon x2 windsors run stable at HT speeds between 1200 and 1400 MHz correct me if im wrong.

hope u've fully found out the max for each system component till now..if not then time to find out!

> to isolate the cpu set cpu multiplier at highest.....ram at lowest..then increase fsb..tillu nstability hits.....then lower htlink and progress ..repeat.....increase vcpu in mean time..by smallest steps ur mobo provides....but not more then 1.5v

>to isolate memory set multipler to 10x or 12x ......cpu voltage to 1.35v ;then increase fsb till unstability...then increase mem voltage then continue...dont give more then 2.0-2.2v to mem...lower htlink if need be......dont forget to set command rate to 2T....rest @defaults-not auto!

> to isolate mobo cpu@[ m-5x -vcpu-1.5v...yes 1.5v]...memory at ddr2-400[or 1:1]......set nb-sb voltage according to unstability...lower htlink if need be.....

note down each changes u make with a nice flow chart on a paper with proper setting notes...imp settings like multiplier..voltage...

find max of ur mobo at first...it may be arround 330

then ram

then cpu.....

^^ yeap i did the problem is the memory is turning out to be quiet a pain.the max mem frequency i can hit is about 960 (480x2).funny thing is if i set memory speed at anything less than 800 (667 ,533,400) while overclocking the system just refuses to post.
for eg:i set FSB =300 with multi 8
ht 800
and memory at auto (800) the system will boot right up to desktop

but if i try to raise the multi and reduce the memory frequency to 667 system will refuce to boot no matter what i set in ht.

does ur ram has epp [enhanced performance profile]...post a pic of cpuz.memory and spd tab section..

..also increasing multi from 8 to 8.5 with fsb at 300 is like doing oc of 150 mhz straight that might b strainious for mobo....progress in small steps...first set ram 667 or whatever u intend to ...then cpu multi then up the fsb.....start at 200......210...like that ...u dont need to go windows after every reboot...just save bios restart...-->bios...fsb++-->repeat......till no post...after that clear cmos or may b ur mobo automatically load defaults...note setting where mobo wont post...dont touch multi in mean time.....then lower 10-15 mhz fsb then go to windows.....

no my ram does not support EPP
and this the my overclock im running 24x7
but i can get up to 250 if i push a lil

i was surprised i could get uptp 310 on fsb having heard how windsors are such poor ovedrclockers compared to brisbanes .
dunno where im goin wrong
do u want me to post a screenie of cpuz at 300 fsb and 8 multi?

first reset all....then try this......

nb sb v 1.4v[min is 1.3 i think..is it??]..for high fsb

vcpu 1.5v...& 9.5x ; u want 3 ghz right..we will go upto 316[ in 10 mhz ++ ]

ram @ddr-533 vram at 2.1v @2T

htlink-3x

all those setting but fsb at 200...tell me if boots or not!
