I have a pentium 4 2.26Ghz and a gigabyte G845 series MO... Mine is a HCL system and has a 300 W PSU and a 256MB DDR RAM... Its 4yrs old.... Can i overclock the system?????
Can laptops also be overclocked??? I have a dell inspiron 6400 with a core2duo 1.73 Ghz and a 1GB RAM(2*512).... Can i overclock that atleast????

Try looking for any options like Frequency Control or related in BIOS.If it does then yes you can OC, regardless of what it is? Either a PC or lappy..

Is there any guide of how much to overclock and how much can the temperature be etc..... i think of overclocking my lap....... i found sites talking abt desktop procs and is it too risky to try to OC in a laptop???

All mobos except intel should include options to overclock..since its branded PC i think this options might be locked by your vendor...still if you could post your BIOS scrrenshot we can help you...

I wouldn't advise on overclocking your laptop. The space around the processor is usually quite cramped and depending on the internal design of your laptop, thermal dissipation might be a problem at overclocked speeds. Btw, what do you plan on gaining via an overclock? A small 100-200Mhz o/c won't result in a tangible speed-up.

+1 OC lappy is not a good idea..Better go with increasing the rams to 2gb (or even 4 gb)which will help a lot in increasing the performance..
For the desktop ..Your PSU is very much limited ..So OC may ruin It ..Anyways look for Frequency adjust in the BIOS ..set it to manual and increase like say 1-2mhz at a time..

Ok guys no OC for my lappy... But i plan on upgrading my system soon... wil ask for you suggestions then of how to OC my new procy...:cool2:
