Hey guys,

I'm currently running an athlon64 x2 3800+ at stock cooling, so what should be a safe limit for me to overclock to ? My mobo is ASUS A8N VM and PSU is Coolermaster 450W.

Also, are there any guides out there which tell you how exactly to go about overclocking this chip?

Thanks

unless u really pump insane voltages through that chip , overclocking it should be safe. btw i dont think that mobo has decent ocing options iirc.

and u cannot really tell how much a chip will overclock on stock voltages n cooling without experimenting with it. go through the guides patiently and try your hand at ocing.

be careful with the ram n cpu voltages n take extra care of cooling. all d best.

Dude refer to any guide or any other tips n tricks but before doing that keep the bios rom floppy ready with you incase bios crashes and use antec ceremic on your proccy and mobo bridege.

everything is safe...

just watch your temps, dont be stupid and stay below 1.55V :) 1.5 would be the max i would want to go...

im at 2.7GHZ 24/7 with my 3800X2 @ 1.45V

Thats right, the Dual Core athlons do NOT need too much voltage. Also since your board is Asus and since it isnt a high end board, i guess there arent going to be vcore or vdimm options anyways as it is IGP board so you are pretty much safe. But if you dont have experience in OC'ing Dual Cores, dont be heroic and try something insane.GO slow n steady.
