OC & Modding Overclocking

can any one tell me the difference between CPU overclocking and Graphics card overclocking ?? or both are same thing ! also which one is better to increase overall efficiency of computer ??

both are different....

CPU overclocking is overclocking ur AMD/Intel processor. graphica card overclocking is overclocking your ATi/nVidia cards...

none increase the efficiency..infact, they increase power consumption and make ur CPU/gfx card heat a lot.

sure...... It is just the thrill..... and also some games benefit noticeably through oc'ing of CPU and GPU.

But you cannot oc your CPU using an Intel original mobo.....

Can I overclock this thing :

CPU: p4 2.8ghz
motherboard : ECS 661FX

Chipset: SiS 661FX

Ram :384mb
minimum/maximun CPU multiplier : 21x/21xField Value
Instruction Set: x86, MMX, SSE, SSE2
L1 Trace Cache: 12K Instructions
L1 Data Cache: 8 KB
L2 Cache: 512 KB (On-Die, ECC, ATC, Full-Speed)

CPU Physical Info ::
Transistors: 55 million
Process Technology: 6M, 0.13 um, CMOS, Cu, Low-K
Die Size: 131 mm2
Core Voltage: 1.475 - 1.55 V
I/O Voltage:1.475 - 1.55 V
Typical Power : 38.7 - 89.0 W (depending on clock speed)
Maximum Power:49 - 109 W (depending on clock speed)

You have got a Northwood processor.... one of the best Intel oc'ers.

But your mobo is a sad one.... you should have taken a mobo with 915 chipset but made by Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.....

I don't know if your mobo supports oc;'ing though.... go to the BIOS and look around....
