my P5B Delux wi-fi mobo gone kaput 2 weeks back.

it just started to stop on its own specially in BIOS. asus service center in pune send it to mumbai for further repairs but they declared it as Dead. so getting new set as replacement.

but Rashi in pune said they dont have this board. instead they are offering me P5B Premium board. what shall i do ?

pro -

released in aug 07 so almost a year newer than p5b delux

has 7 SATA ports

512mb fixed SNAND drive for vista ready boost - fixed on mobo.

cons -

8 USB ports instead of 10

no WiFi

please suggest me what to do ?

see if they ll give you a credit note and see how much its for ;) if its better than getting this mobo then take the credit note, else get the mobo :)

thx but how can i ask for credit note ?
anybody experienced such RMA with asus in past ?
can i give them little cash and take P5Q or something :)
help guys.... going tomorrow so need to take decision quickly.

Someone here was lucky to get a P5Q series motherboard (P45 chip!!) in exchange for a dead board from Rashi. :ohyeah:

Rashi seems to be improving in terms of customer service. Off lately good news've been spreading around.

EDIT: Here: http://www.techenclave.com/cpu-mobo-corner/mobo-exchange-from-rashi-124970.html

You could probably offer some cash (around 4~5k?) and get a P45 based board. I believe you'd be offered something based on the P31/G31 chipset by Rashi. Not sure though. The P965 chipset is passe already. :P

dont go for a credit note, asus's credit note policy is ridiculous. ask for a p5q pro in exchange, i was offered a 5k credit note for a 7month old p5k which had gone dead but after a lot of arguments etc. :P i got a p5qle in exchange (p43 board)

i got following options.....
let me know what to choose -
i have to pay the difference....

P5K Premium/WiFi-AP- RS.4675
P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP – RS. 3750
P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP – RS.10875

what to choose.... is there any best option than these...
i dont mind not going for wi-fi... and i dont overclock either..
i just want stable system. what to choose ?
dont want to spend much..

i am thinking of Asus P5Q Deluxe.
lets see how much they charge. btw what is the cost of this mobo in market right now.... should not be more than 8k....

If u dont OC and won't use the wi-fi get the board Rashi offered ...Why pay More
Then if u OC on moderate Scale then Get Asus P5q-e (Very stable and on less hotter side)
If u OC on high Scale then get p5q-deluxe

Something odd in OP's config! a coolermaster Xtreme power 600 Watter!
Good luck with RMA :)

what do you mean with CM RMA ?? is it so bad ?

anyway if i dont OC at all and i want 2 NIC on board then suggest me a good board.
please keep in mind i am planning 4 or 8 gig more RAM so i can use my system for Vmware. no plan of OC at all. even no use of wifi edition.
so suggest me good feature rich board - but less expensive...
true VFM for me.

How would anyone suggest you a feature rich cheap board; you contradict your self man.
BTW I'm getting creeps about my IP35-E so I wanna change my board too... Any sugesstions; all I want is it should fit in my config and should have more than 4 SATA ports and atleast 4 RAM slots.

Abit is already closed. I had given my IP35 Pro for replacement but luckily there was nothing wrong so same board was returned but Tirupati guys were quite helpful so i dont think there is anything to worry. As it is you dont do extreme overclocking and all which can increases chances of failure.

There that's the truth. I din't OC my setup. You can flame me for all you want but I won't OC my Rig  Anyway it takes 2 - 5 seconds for the Verifying DMI pool data something that's y I am a 'lil scared.

i got new P5Q-E :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: and i paid nothing:cool2:
but i forgot to ask about warranty. will it be 3 more years :) or only till my P5B's warranty ??
