CPU/Mobo P5N-E SLI | Strange problem updating bios

hi,
i have a P5Ne-sli board that came with Bios ver 0401. I wanted to update it to 0602.

using a usb stick when i try to update the bios pressing ALT+F2 or inside the bios, it tells me that i cannot upgrade with a downgraded bios.....

so its basically saying that the 0602 bios is older than the 0401, thus it wont downgrade it!!!!

any suggestions on how to resolve this?

i had the same problem. tried everything. after not finding any solution i upgraded bios through windows xp x86
 
the ASUS EZflash utility doesnt seem to work very..
i upgraded it thru DOS using the AWDFLASH utility..

asides, 0401 doesnt support USB input..only 0602 does..
 
^^ Create a bootable CDROm of dos/Freedos with the bios update and utility in it....

Search the net for bootable dos image with cdrom support, then make the cd bootable with that image as boot file and the utility and bios update as data in the cd
 
i tried updating it through windows xp sp2 with asus live update, just after flashing the bootrom, comp restarted on its own, and poof, display gone :D

waiting for the replacement..

i had also tried it in dos. dint work even there. gave me some insufficient memory error in awdflash when i loaded the bios from the bootable cd. although i dint try it in dos with a bootable usb device.
