Graphic Cards Palit ATI 4850 / Sapphire ATI 3870 in Cross Fire

Is it possible to have a cross fire mode between 3870 / 4850. I am intrested in installing Leopard on my P5Q Delux/Q9550 and i am currently having Palit 4850 installed on my PC. As all of you know that ATI 4850 chip is not supported on mac I wanna buy 3870 chip card so that i could use it on mac with drivers installed. And whenever i use windows again i should be able to use both the cards at the same time. Could anybody give me your suggestions on this.

Not possible, mixed crossfire on 48xx+38xx WON'T work.

HD48xx + HD38xx

Since we know you are going to ask, this option does NOT work. We tried with 5 different beta and WHQL drivers from the 8.6 to the newest 8.7 and not one of them allowed us to enable Crossfire between two different families of ATI cards. Before anyone asks in the comment thread, we have confirmed the incompatibility with ATI’s driver and product teams.
