Graphic Cards Palit GTX570 Sonic Platinum vs Sapphire 6950 Toxic

Getting a 6950 Toxic (it unlocks to 6970 shaders) had been almost a sure thing for me but I've heard that ATI's cards suck at Tesselation and games like Crysis 2 and Batman AA. But then the 570 has only 1GB of vram.

Purely on the basis of performance, temps and futureproofing which one of these would be the better card? Price isn't really a factor.

I game on 1920x1200, my cpu is the i5 2500k. I plan on playing resource heavy games like Stalker, BF3, Metro, Crysis, et al. PSU is Corsair 650w tx v2.
 
1gb of vRam is enough for 1920x1080..It can even handle 32x AA.. Gtx570 is defintely the best choice in the ~ 19k segment..

Ati cards dont suck at dx11 , jus that nvidia 500series is a tad better at Dx11..
 
Dont be sure that it will unlock to 6970. You get what you pay for. If you are fortunate enough then it will unlock to 6970.

I suggest you to get Palit GTX570 Sonic platinum...
 
Even if you do unlock to 6970, you'll need adequate cooling to really get it to the speeds of 6970.

Either get yourself a 570 or just a 560Ti Hawk, which more or less can be overclocked to the same performance of the 570. That is of course if you have plans of SLI'ing in the future. If not, 570 is the best choice.
 
The HD6950 TOXIC is an amazing card with even more amazing cooling from AMD's biggest AIB partner Sapphire itself.

Plus, even after unlocking shaders, the power consumption barely increases, and the Performance/Power consumption is wayy better than GTX570.

So I would pick the HD6950 TOXIC.

@chiragsthakur all 6950 Toxic cards come already unlocked to 6970 settings.

I could get the 570gtx, the only that bothers me about it is its 1.25GB vram. The price difference isn't an issue for me.

@ram_dante I plan to use the gpu for around two years and I don't think it'll last with 1.25GB of vram. There already are some games that require upwards of 1GB gpu ram like Shogun 2 and Crysis. I am a bit skeptical about the card lasting for two years.
