Graphic Cards Palit HD 4870 1GB or Palit GTX 260 Core 216

^how much view distance was available for u........I could run gta 4 @ 1280 X 1024 @ 32fps in 8800gts with medium settings.......10 view distance.

No AA option was available for me.:(

the game doesn't support aa at all. my fps varied between 25-45 at 1080p with everything high but view distance was like 30. no optimization to speak of, and don't bother with the game unless you're sitting on a 3.5ghz+ quad core processor. what nonsense. worst port of all time.
 
dont mean to hijack thread, just a query with so many cards out there im sorta confused. The best performing single card is the GTX 295 or 4890 or 4870 X2??
 
AFAIK, GTX 295 is roughly 2 GTX 280 combined. And for that dough, its worth. But I am interested to see a real comparison between 4870X2 , 4890 CFX and GTX 295. :p Don't know who can afford all of these to do some benchies.

Whats your budget ?? If money is not a concern, you may go for 4890 crossfired. :)

i believe the 295 easily outperforms the 4870x2 (and the 4890 isn't even in the same class). the gtx 295 and 4870x2 actually have sli and crossfire enabled respectively, so they basically have multi gpus on a single card and comparing with a 4890 isn't really fair. the highest end single gpu card is the gtx285.

luckily we have hardware review sites to do this work for us without having to spend our own money :bleh:

Thanks for the link mate. I did say that intentionally to make someone find it for me. :p Kidding apart, 4870 will have an advantage over GTX 260 as per various sites. :)

Edit: - Guess what, I've already viewed this review and then I was more interested in 4850 thus overlooked the JUMBOs. :D
 
well my view distance in gta4 is 34 with all other details at maximum(since my ram is only 896mb so it stops me there) and yes about the above discussion about gtx260 n hd4870 then guys come on...we all know that hd 4870 reneder graphics a bit better than gtx 260 but it just dosent give us higher n better FPS at higher resolutions like 1920x1200 as a gtx 260 does...now those who think that 1gb ddr5 ram gives better than gtx260 then pls dont go for it its just a hype.
 
dude....obviously the MSI GTX 260 SP216 TWIN FROZER thing. its the best cooling machine on any gtx260 in this world right now. i still regrett i cudnt buy it..$@#$@#$@
and try for its 1.7gb ddr3 ram black edition ONLY if its cheap...otherwise not worth it the 896mb ram wud work just more than perfect.
