Get it sourced from UK rather than from US... UK version works with 3G and Edge in India..

I have used Palm pre 2 (UK Sourced) - Worked with Airtel/BSNL/Vodafone 3G and 2G. For tata docomo only 2G as no 3G in Mumbai yet.
