Panasonic lumix dmc fz28...where?

hi guyz, its me again. earlier i thought of buying a fuji s2000hd but after extensive research i found out that its not that great. although its really cheap but its not that exceptional. now my eyes is set on panasonic dmc fz28. its a new 10.1mp camera which is a successor of dmc fz18. i have called all of the panasonic brand shops in delhi. most of them either dont know about it or they dont have it. my last options is buy it either from ebay or grey market in delhi. What would you suggest?

Even though ebay retailer assured me that his camera bears 1 yr warranty, i am sure i wont be getting any warranty if i buy it from any of these sources.
What if i buy it from US? Do panasonic gives international warranty on their cameras? Also, price difference is huge. US price for this camera is $260 ~ $320 while the cheapest indian price i can get is rs. 18,500 ($377 @ Rs50/dollar)
The only thing holding me back is the warranty issue. please advice on panasonic warranty policy.

dont kno build quality on fz28 though bt i own fz18 n its pretty decently built.

took to goa 2months ago... on a shoar a wave wet it all...all water over lcd n navigation...

let it dry for 2hrs n only delete key was being short(so couldnt take pics) then next day i let it dry for the whole day... it was workin fine...

n still workin fine..

was boufht from states for $300 when $ was Rs40 :D

fz18 was available for 30k locally wid warranty n 20k at gray..

the point is that warranty onlt be necessary unless u drop it.

if buying abroard... try getting from reliagble sources like newegg, tigerdirect, bhphoto. i bought one from newegg

buyin locally from gray market wouldnt be a bad option though...

the cost difference is still large (more than $100) even if i buy it from grey market. However, the grey market dealer said that he imports these camera from singapore and is giving 1yr warranty on this camera.

it wont be any cheaper than 30k from panasonic wid warranty.

jj mehta didnt quote me decent prices when i wanted to buy FZ18

alfa and some stored at CSt along fort quoted around 18-10k for fz18 while it was available for 30k from panasonic..

however they didnt offer any kind of warranty as mentioned above by sum1.

the costs mentioned so far didnot any memroy card n tripod or any accessary which is not included in the retail package.

its a decent buy if u can get fz28 for 18k here from gray.

its currently retailing for around $310-325 i guess.

getting from US if no possibility of availing warranty wouldnt be a gud move for saving 1-2k odd.

Some online stores in US are selling fz28 for as low as $269. and in india, it is priced at Rs 18,850 which is $377 @ Rs50/$   A grey market dealer is giving me 1yr warranty but i highly doubt it.

I seriously think it doesnt really make sense getting the Panny at that price, y not get Sony DSLR A200 which is priced much less at 23K, along with 3 yrs official warranty.

bcos im not into DSLRs. I just need a super-zoom with a few manual controls. Panasonic fz28 fits the bill totally.

One more que, "Photofair 2009" that will be held in jan,2009 hosts camera manufacturers as well?

SX10IS is Canon's new superzoom which features 20x zoom (28-560mm) and 10mp sensor. Canon's usually have better noise performance then other P&S.

Photofair should have all the major camera manufacturers.

I purchased FZ28 from Fort area around 3 weeks back. I paid 17500/-. (Grey ..new box packed but only 1 day testing warranty). Memory card and pouch costed extra. Beleive me it's a very nice camera.
