Hi Guys... I'm looking to buy a new digital camera... :hap2:

Was thinking of going for a entry-level DLSR instead of the high-end P&S camera... however reoccurring future costs on lens, filters etc. has led me back to turn towards the high-end P&S cameras which is like a one tie investment :S

So I have shortlisted the two panasonic high-end P&S camera's; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7; and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 :ohyeah:

Both the camera's are available at relatively the same price point in the grey market... so it has become very confusing for me to choose the rite one :ashamed:

The only noticeable difference between the two is the size and the optical zoom

Picture quality being is my main priority.. please help me shortlist one of these..

btw... I've set my budget around 18K-20K... so please fell free to recommend me any other model's in that range

u can carry it 24X7 with you.................................

get a quote frm KMD coz it is priced at 250$ mark in US

I was undecided between the two models even till the last moment, before I picked the FZ35. It is a great camera.

I sacrificed portability and small form factor in favor of more features and bigger zoom. You should be clear about what you want out of your camera, as the budget is not a constraint for you.

Got the FZ35 today from Heera Panaa for 18K :)

Now time to get a good casing/pouch and UV filter to protect this investment... any thoughts on where i could source those from??

hey congo....u got bill or without....plz pm me the source....like shop no etc..i also might be interested..what are the accessories u got apart from camera
 
18K is the grey market price, official price with bill & warranty is a whopping 8K more (26K) :O

Anyways, the camera was box packed and company sealed, so no worries for me there... plus got 15-day testing warranty...

Got it from Sound Electronics (Shop No. 12)

All standard accessories included... no extras :(

fyi... FZ-35 is really low on stock everywhere... only sound electronics had three pieces in stock... the last of which I picked up today...
 
At 26k the price is too expensive, you get entry level DSLR's at that range. Even with the kit lens the picture quality, customization would be better then a P&S. Portability would be the only big negative..
 
I was on the verge of buying one of the panas and then got the cannon sx200is for around 15.25k...and even though I dont know much about photography, I can say that its a very good camera for the price...very nice pictures in all kinds of conditions.
 
got a good casing from Croma today... now for the UV filter... can anyone help??

jjmehta stocks only some cheap indian uv filter

What if someone wants long range and HD Video's :) Will you get that in an entry level DSLR with kit lens. :P

and I totally agree that the picture quality, customization would be better then a P&S. So I guess it's on individual what they want out of their cam. ;)

Is it in Mumbai/Delhi.. Delhi dealers are quoting a higher price.. 20K that too the camera is not factory sealed.. :huh::huh: I asked 3 shops in Palika..
 
last time i checked the price @ dubai mall (panasonic shop)for fz35 was 2000 dhms

and for canon sx20is was arnd 1750 dhms

Hi mav2000,

Any particular reason why you opted for SX200IS over FZ35? Are you missing any features which are available on FZ35? Even i am heavily confused between these two models!

Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.
