Pantech Burst aka Pantech P9070
Specs : GsmArena
I have brought two PANTECH BURST In Jan 2013 and now after using it for 2 months, I think its time to give newcomers a sort of info about it. Below are PROS and CONS of handset along with few goodies and tips. Many users had acknowledged several problems with handset but i was lucky enough that mine handsets had no serious troubles as stated by other users.
I am not any sort of guide, article or review writer. Below stated data is collected from various handset users and might not entirely be everyone's case. Cons and Pros are based on total hardware and hence are evaluation of device only by its users. Suggestions , Comments , Sarcasm are welcome in limits as this work is only due to request of new comer, owner and interesting mates can also share their knowledge.

CONS :
I wont write anything about camera quality or music quality. For such lovers, they should consider buying Cams and iPods. Both are of normal quality in the handset.
Cell problems acknowledged by diff users till now :
1). Too low battery power. (Drains too quickly)
2). Low responsive front buttons.
3). Heats on charging.
4). Signal problems when it automatically swaps 2g to 3g.
5). Occasional Lag that needs Restarting.
6). Voice echo problem even without any cover.
7). Low volume during calls towards other caller side.
8). Pantech home crashes on restarting leading to black icons of Apps installed on Sdcard.
9). Low USB transfer speeds even ON built in 16Gigs.
10). USB tethering & WiFi Spot Locked. (Can be unlocked using certain tricks)

Only common problem is battery draining. These problems stated above are found from different users. In my case front buttons are working fine, but only problem is Low volume towards caller side (which i tackled with headset). In second Handset Low USB transfer Speed and occasional lag can be seen.
PROS :
1). 1.2 dual core @ 8k is steal.
2). None other provides 1Gigs Ram at this price.(except Chinese
)
3). No Matching hardware at this price.
4). Operations are buttery like any premium set of 25k.
5). Supports new and advance HDgames.
6). Best Display at this price.
7). 4G LTE support.
8). Good RAM management.

Would I Recommend Burst to a friend ? (Asked by a fellow [E]onian)
Yes, But at Maximum of 8k. This handset is not for tourists, who prefer to charge their battery at once and suck the earth out of it. Beware at any usage you will have to charge your handset twice daily.
If I had chance would i purchase again burst ? (Asked by a fellow [E]onian)
Yes, if none other came up with same spec specially display + power. No, If Chinese handsets made market maybe i will swap to them.
Yes , I bet 90% of the people are complaining about this. How bad is it?
It is not bad at all if in standby. Handset can bear 2 days standby time at normal calls @2G(With no hanking panking inside). Most of the battery is sucked by 4G(3G) and Display of the device. I can clearly say that i can listen to music for more then 9hrs. but video playback is limited to 3hrs(+/- 20 min). Web Browsing can be done at 3hrs continuously on 4G. Call time too, is low on 3G(3.5hrs) 2G(4.5hrs +/- 20min). After that battery comes to 10%. I have never checked it till dead stage but till 10 %.
If owner just lits up display around 100 times i can assume battery will get down 30%. Handset will not boot up if shutdown below power of 10%. So avoid shutting it down at low batteries.
2). Low responsive front buttons.
Like how? Can you explain?
Sometimes front buttons miss your touch. Sometimes you press back button to exit any app and nothing happens, no vibration touch feedback just nothing. You will have to press any other button then again all buttons start working but This can be seen one or two times in whole day. My guess, may be due to lag in power support or may be something else (not really a expert, I am).
3). Heats on charging.
How bad is it? And is it risky in the sense that it can harm the phone and battery itself?
Nah, I dont think its risky but may be to screen as that too gets heated. On some devices it's pretty bad, means you can't talk while charger on. Display too gets hot. But as i told you this too can be cured. Let it cool by removing charger. Connect charger again when you feel that it is cool enough. It will not heat again (Confirmed by a User). This can be due to improper seating of charger pins or could be due to resistance build up, but believe me sometimes its not negligible.
4). Signal problems when it automatically swaps 2g to 3g.
Need more info. if possible?
Info : Assume Owner is using internet on 3g then he steps into an alley with no 3g signals. Handset automatically swaps to 2g but in swapping the availability Edge is lost, that takes around 20+ sec to gain Edge availability again. But in 20 secs you crossed alley and again reached in 3g coverage. It will again swap to 3g taking same amount of time for 3g availability which is sometimes unbearable.
My house is 3 floored and ground floor doesn't get 3g signals too well. If i am using web in my room (first floor), answer to a single door bell would interrupt me for 2+ minutes at least.
5). Occasional Lag that needs Restarting.
When running apps or simply on standby itself?
Nah older handsets with Ginger bread faced this issue, that was due to cache build up and thumbnail clashing. Now set comes with preinstalled ICS. No need to worry as this is not a issue but a common feature of android.

8). Pantech home crashes on restarting leading to black icons of Apps installed on Sdcard.
WTH is a Pantech Home?
Pantech home is Burst's Launcher. Pantech launcher is much better than many other launchers, but you need to restart it, after booting your cell to avoid black icons of apps installed on SDcard. Not an issue, its merely 10 sec process to cure.
10). WiFi Spot Locked. (Can be unlocked using certain tricks)
Yes, you heard it correct. At&t has locked every tethering functions of the set. But that too can be worked around. (Possible for unrooted stock devices also.) Not much of a issue. 2 min process and you will unlock tethering fully w/o any problems. There are more tricks to unlock tethering but i have stated safest, easiest and noob friendly. Read Problems and Work around section above for complete process.
11). Does it depend entirely on luck to get a fully working Burst which has no issue at all? Can the seller/dealer replace/exchange it? And what if there is any problem with the phone in the future? Is there any service centre, doesn't have to be "Authorized"-I'm happy as long its "Genuine" and they do proper service, which can repair the phone?
Common Questions for new Buyers !!!

I guess, low responsive buttons , low voice quality / echo and low battery power is common problems in all builds. Handsets facing problem of heating are replaced by many sellers/resellers like ebay and ibhejo (I know total of 4 cases, 2 ebay replacements and 2 ibhejo). No info abt service centre as handset is from carrier from US, so no service centres outside US.
Despite of all problems, I will recommend this handset. Having that much power in your hands @8k is really a steal. I don't know if Upcoming Chinese or Indian brands would ever beat it regarding performance.

5). How to Remove Bloatwares workaround. (Root Required)
Advice : Dont remove the Preinstalled apps just Freeze them using Titanium backup pro app.
Reason: Some of app have dependencies so it might be a trouble if any dependency app is removed, so freeze them using Titanium backup pro that is as same as good as Uninstalling.
I once removed At&t native sync client and then my contact was stuck at Updating at&t address book.
But if you are sure you want to remove them then do it on your own risk.
