Passport Issue | Catch 22 situation !

Ok, so finally went to police station on weekend. I gave all the documents and he did fill up some form, which was in marathi.
I gave my current rent agreement and copies of ID cards which was fine. Then he asked for previous rent agreement and then also electricity bill.
Went on second day and gave all these as well but he just took these docs and put it in a drawer in a very casual way! (Not even attaching it to the original form) and I guess, it was actually not required but just to see if there is opportunity of earning something, he asked me to bring all these documents!
Anyways, all done now.
He told that I will get SMS in 10-15 days after the process is completed but I am not sure about it !
(Let me know if you guys indeed receive SMS after this process since in other cases, you get your passport which itself means that PV is completed but in my case, since I already have the passport, not sure about it!)

I never recieved any SMS, regarding process completion. It was only updated in the passport portal

But on passport portal, nothing is there to be updated for me !

PV will be completed in its own sweet time. I had submitted all my documents 10 days ago when I visited the police station. I thought that was the end of it, but yesterday I received another call from the police station to confirm some additional details. God knows when the police will update the status and forward it to the PSK.
From what I understood from the another friendly policeman last year when my wife's passport was up for renewal was that after verification of documents and getting their expected dues from the applicant (Rs.500 in our case), they prepare a file with all the supporting documents and send it to the SP office, which then finally updates the verification status to the PSK. Unable to verify his claim though.
About the SMS, I tried checking my passport status by sending an SMS in this format - "STATUS [15-digit File Number]" to 9704100100. Got a response that I have not opted for SMS updates. I don't remember getting an option for SMS updates during the application filling process.
