Hi guys,
I need some help in troubleshooting a problem I have been facing since last night.
My PC turns off automatically and the fans start pulsating like a care engine being accelerated again and again.
I have the following config:

P7H55D-M PRO
i5 750
Corsair VX 550
HD 5870
Corsair RAM 4 GB
I changed the point in the extension power chord and the PC booted up and I was working for 15 minutes and it again turned off and started humming and DVD ROM is also being read in pulses. Every time it manages to start I get an initial BIOS page asking me restore my settings to default and continue. I have never seen this page before.

I am afraid if I try to turn it on multiple times I might burn something. Is it the power supply or the SMPS or the mobo.
I am clueless here I have never seen such an issue before.
Please help.

Some hardware has failed, or has gotten loose. Your computer tries to initialize it, so it keeps restarting, which is probably why you feel your fans are pulsating.
If you're comfortable with assembling your computer, take it apart, and put it together again, and then restart, enter the bios and enable the fail-safe settings.
If you can't re-assemble your computer, just enter the bios, set the fail safe settings, then boot into windows. Then right click on my computer>properties>device manager, and see if there are any exclamation marks anywhere. If you find that, then you know which hardware device is at fault.

tried plugging the pc directly to the power socket instead of using an extension? does it show the same symptoms?

No overclocking was done, everything was secured properly. Motherboard had gone bad. Got it replaced today from shweta peripherals. Got a Gigabyte P55 motherboard instead. It is working fine now.

Snooped around a lot yesterday and came to know that it is infact a motherboard failure as in all other cases your motherboard handles the exception scenario properly. Be it your ram or graphic card or any other hardware except the processor. Motherboard will have some beep codes to indicate failure rather than this abrupt behavior.
