Since yesterday my pc audio is not working... :@

My mobo is Asus M4A88TD-M Evo

It uses Realtek ALC892 @ ATI SB800 - High Definition Audio Controller as audio adapter(on board).

It's not detecting (pop-up windows shown for new device connected) whenever i plug headphones to my audio jack and there is no audio when i use.

it.Checked both front as well as back panel. :(

Didn't touch ne thing related to drivers.

Reinstalled whole Windows XP with drivers but still not alive.

set my bios settings to default but still not working...

Need some suggestions...plz :huh:

should i take it to claim my warranty?? Only 1 yr has been past... :S

Disable Jack Sensing(Jack Detection) from Realtek Audio properties.

see the image here for Realtek settings: realtek settings.JPG

Also look at the Widows Volume Control's Advanced properties. Sometimes MASTER Volume,SW Synth or Wave are Muted and sometimes digital output gets selected as the default output source.

First of all check if your audio device is properly listed under the device manager?

@CA50 Device manager is fine... chk here:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Even after formatting n reinstalling windows haven't fixed the audio.So device manager might not be faulty.

Check my headphone it's working fine in my lappy...

@aman.pitbull

Done that but no success.

Whenever i play a song it plays it with equalizer moving but no sound is being transmitted...

am bit amused tht both front panel & back panel audio is not working at same time... tht means sound card had gone dead?? :@

is it possible tht on-board audio card gone dead/malfunctioned ??

No nothing has gone bad, play with the settings I've mentioned.

Given that he's reinstalled windows, the drivers,output, etc. should have gotten reset to defaults. The only possibilities now are BIOS settings or hardware failure.

Enter your BIOS setup on startup, and ensure that the Onboard Audio is enabled.

If BIOS seems OK, then as a last ditch effort, try running any Linux Live CDs and see if they can output sound (Ubuntu should suffice, I guess).

If Linux Live CDs too fail, it'll probably be a hardware failure. Take it back for repair/RMA.

As you are in Win XP, check these:
Start > Control panel > Sound and audio device properties > Check if your realtek sound card is listed there.
Also check the Audio and the Voice tab, and in select the realtek card as default in all the drop down menu

@CA50 checked both each one shows realtek HD audio output and input.

@Gryph0n

as i have mentioned i have made my bios setting default & i have rechecked the audio enabled option they are set/same as previous.

Also checked with Linux mint live USB still no sign of audio.

since my audio had been gone w/o me opening my case,i conclude that it might be some capacitor blown up case.

Where is Asus service center in lamington rd can ne 1 post the address here?? mobo still has some warranty in it ; bought it in June 2010

Now it seems like the audio section of the mobo have gone kaput, better send it for RMA

Try this, open the Realtek audio manager and check the volume controls. These controls over ride the windows controls. Had seen this problem with another mobo.
