Disciple
Evening all,
Im from Delhi, looking forward to buying a new pc, since my previous one is 5years old, and the mobo gave out just yesterday.

Well, my max budget would be a total of 90k, to push it at the max,say 1Lac.
Lets have your word on what "You would go for , as if you were buying it for yourself. Please do suggest with links to dealers etc if you could.

Without further ado, and little bit of reading thru the net, here's what my setup would be like-

Cpu- E8500. 13,000
Mobo- Asus Maximus Formula 15,000
GPU- ?? 20,000
HDD- Western Digital 320gb Sata x 2 10,000
Optical- Lite-On Dvd-rw With LS 1,500
Cabinet- Antec 900 6,500
Smps- CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 850 12,000
Cooling- ThermalRight IFX 14 or 6,000
Ultra ChillTec Thermal Electric CPU Cooler
Memory-2GB Patriot Viper DDR3 SDRAM 1333 Dual Channel 10,000

Well thats pretty much it.
I' have some problems regarding what card to buy since the Mobo mentioned supports only Ati-Crossfire, but I do need a DDR3 Mobo- for future upgrades etc. Also I intend to use the computer mainly for gaming purposes -etc.
Looking forward to playing on a Vista Ultimate x64. OS.

What's your take on the config.
What would you change etc, please do post.

Some parts mentioned here arent available in India afaik.
Could you suggest reliable hardware sites to order from.
Thanks in advance, appreciate your input.

The Procc seems fine..or wait for the 45nm Quad Cores
Motherboard....try to preferebly get a 790i chipset motherboard...the evga ones..Phoenix might be able to help ya
Graphics Card:ATI HD 3870X2 1GB DDR3 about 22k.....performs better than the 8800GTX
Hard Drive:A real fast hdd (seagate 320GB)+A mammoth(500GB-750GB)

I will leave cooling and power requirement for the rig to be taken on by others cause I am not in a position to suggest for a high end config

HDD- Western Digital 320gb Sata x 2 10,000

I think thats a Typo coz iirc a new 500 GB WD SATA 2 HDD costs 4.5 odd, i myself bought 2 x 500 GB Seagate 7200.11 32mb buffer HDD for 5350 each including shipping...........

Or else i'll suggest a 72GB Raptor as boot drive and 500 GB as data drive [Storing files, installing not so used app etc...]

Cpu- E8500. 13,000 ( Nice Choice)
Mobo- Wait for Foxconn Blackops it Supports DDR3 - ~15000
GPU- Get 9800GTX or HD3870x2 20k-22k
HDD- Western Digital 320gb Sata x 2 10,000 (Depends on u) i sggst take 1 x 250 nd 1 x 320
Optical- Lite-On Dvd-rw With LS 1,500 (again Depends on u)
Cabinet- Antec 900 6,500 ( i Suggest for Cooler Master Stacker 810)9k
Smps- i think Corsair 750tx Should Do the Job for 1 more year or more 7k
Cooling- ThermalRight IFX 14 or 6,000 - Wht Not Go for ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme? - 3k with more fan
Ultra ChillTec Thermal Electric CPU Cooler dunno its price
Memory- 2GB Team Xtreem 5-5-5-12or 15 m not sure 14-16k DDR3

The Intel Q6600 is going to get a update in the form of a switch to 45nm and larger cache...so i would say...it would be worth the wait...<=1 month

wait doesnt he want any neat lcds or what

and why do u need that behemoth powersupply that sucks up ur budget

get a corsair 650 instead and 8800gt in sli can smoke anything u throw at it

and go for quaddy please

so what i can suggest is

q6600 (or better) - 10500
sli mobo (680i mostly) - 12000 (max)
8800gt sli - 26k
HX650 - 6k (not total sure but ask phoenix)
24" Dell - 18k
MX5021 - 7k (personal choice)
4 GB XMS2 - 5.4k

so please see and check out for the needful

i hope u shud go for saving ur money and get VFM parts rather then going all out taking ur budget into consideration

rest all upto u

cheers :)

Thanks for the quick reply everyone.

First off -HDD, i thought it was necessary to have to exact drives to "Sata"?
500gb it is then.
As for the waiting period, I really do need a computer asap.
So , Dual 3870's do seem good with the suggested mobo.
I'm sticking to C2D as imo i dont see a point of buying Quads, maybe in 6 months it would be viable. I did have the Q6600 in mind, but still. Cant get enough valid reasons to go for it.

As for the cooling- could you suggest a dealer- or any hardware site online to purchase from.
Cabinet wise, I chose the 900 cause it's roomy and has good airflow.
The stacker 810 is good also, but whats the big difference between them anyway ?

Also, when would the Foxconn mobo be available. In India ?

Thanks again.

Chucking everything aside,
could you all please suggest a sli based config ,
I have the 8800gt oc in mind ,
but what mobo to pair it with and cpu ?

do reply soon.
thanks

TRUE and Mobos and RAMs and GFX cards are available with me......PM me with your requirments.......will help u gladly, u can also chk out my deals on the Dealers Paradise if u want

Moving on,

Cpu- E8500 or Q6600 13k
Mobo- Well - Crossfire or Sli. ? MSI P6N DIAMOND 15k
GPU- 3870x2 GPU or MSI 8800GT OC 512MB Sli. 26k
Memory- 2 X 2GB DDR2 800MhZ Corsair 7k
HDD- 500x2 Sata. 10k
Cooling - Cabinet - PSU ?? ??
LCD 24" 18k

Well this is roughly 90k without the Cooling, cabinet and psu.
Rest I can put in 10-15k more for the above.

Also could the suggested motherboard support the E8500?
Would I be able to Sli two 9800 cards later on with the motherboard?

1 is ddr3 sli setup

2 is ddr2 sli setup (My Choice of the 3)

3 is ddr2 crossfire setup

Hope it shud be enuff heh ?? :p

BTW , the 790i price is an estimate, most probs shud be slightly lower than this.

+1 for getting a quad core and 24 inch Dell E248WFP LCD :)

My budget is around 75k and I got the 24 inch LCD, and I'm impatient so getting the Q6600 now instead of waiting for the new 45nm Q9300/9450.

And I would suggest to keep things simple, get an ATI 3870X2 single card based dual GPU rather than 2 8800s

That way you can save on the motherboard costs (get an Abit IP35E) so you can get a good CPU/RAM/HDD etc...

Please for the love of God do not get a measly dual core with this kind of budget! :p

First off, 90k is a good budget fer a gaming PC. :)
And not many games out there use 4cores fer computing, so a Dual core shud do fine.
I'd suggest u to wait till April so tat the E8600 with a 10x multiplier is goin to be released and Intel announces price cuts for the rest as well. More motherboards shud be on the scene as well.

Second, U dont really need DDR3.. Its much costly and latencies're much higher than compared to a DDR2 counterpart. So stick to DDR2 now. But u can buy a motherboard tat supports both so u can be future proof. :)

Third, The IFX-14 is not worth the price. U shudn be decieved by the looks of tat and moreover u'll run into problems with installation with the motherboard. AFAIK reviews say tat n besides a TRUE with push pull + Scythe 120s shud do an equally better job IMO. :)

Fourth, the monitor part. U can stick to the DELL 24incher or the 22incher but mind u if u go fer the 24incher, none of the GFX cards as of now can drive some of the games like Crysis to max res with all eye-candy turned on, but u'll have the goodness of full HD 1080p!!! However with the 22inchers, prices're lower, U can still run those games with better frames but no full D here..

Fifth, Get a 3870X2 from Ati or the 8800GTs in Sli setup.. Price wise and performance-wise both are a balanced combo.. Take ur pick.. I'd personally go for an Sli based mobo with an nVidia 780/790 chipset. Another thing, getting an evga card has another advantage.. U can upgrade to another one from evga stables by paying an extra.

Sixth, U can get watever u want sourced to ur doorstep thanx to many dealaers out here in TE.. katmandude, phoenix etc can help u getting ur h/w. Contact dingemini321 for ur DELL monitor reqmt.

Rest assured you can get all the stuff from here.. :eek:hyeah:

^^ he has it covered nicely.

But with 90K I think you can go Quad, agreed no game out there can make a good use of it. But its good for other daily stuff. Getting 8800 GTS[G92] SLI will keep you happy for more then a year even with 1900X1200 and may be more with eye-candy on.

good nice review ddr3 will not impove much per only extra 1-3 fps at few games so you can stick ddr2 is enough for gamming and you can run sli 8800 gt or crossfire using nvidia 790 or x38 mo

so 24 lcd is enough for games and good 1080 p support

LOL.same thing i sadi , DDR3 not worth the extra Moolah.....so asked him to stick to the 780i/ddr2 + 2x8800GT Combo.....P35s are a bit lesser future proof, so no suggestion in that area........
