Hello,

I need a home PC, and my budget is around 40 k, which includes cost of Windows 7.

My requirements:

1. Movie and video watching
2. Very Occasional gaming (like 1-2 times in a month), but if at all, i would like to use a Controller - instead of keyboard.

Can you please suggest.

P.S. Since i reside in NCR, i would need components which are easily available in stores like SMC - Nehru Place.

Regards,

Well ud nee to get a LCD/TV to have the component input required for connecting ur DTH connection... another option would be to get an external/internal tv tuner for just a grand or more instead of going in more a more expensive TV/monitor...

Try out the Benq G2200 series and Eco series you just need to eithe convert the HDMI output to Component or the other way around to get the DTH box and the monitor to work together

Samsung P2370MS is a FULL HD multifunction LCD monitor. It fits your requirements perfectly and is better than an external converter. It's built and performance is exactly same as Samsung P2370. Priced at 15K(locally) it's a really good buy.

Now you're left with 25K for your PC, I'm recommending the following configuration that you should buy(every component should be available and just to confirm give the shopkeeper a call and tell him to get it in advance).

CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555BE(3.2Ghz, 2 cores, 6MB L3 Cache) RS.4900

MOBO: MSI 880GMA-E45 Rs.5600

GFX: Sapphire HD4770 512MB DDR5 Rs.6000 (Remove this if you don't play demanding games as your onboard can take care of your gaming needs and add Rs.6000 for win7Premium)

RAM: 4GB(2*2) G. Skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT DDRIII Rs.5300

HDD: 500 GB WD Blue Rs.2000

KEYBOARD+MOUSE: Logitech SET - Optical Blk Mouse+ MultimediaKeyboard Rs.700

OPTICAL DRIVE: LG SATA DVDRW Rs.950

CABINET: CM Elite 310 + extra 120MM INTAKE FAN Rs.1800

SMPS: CORSAIR VX400 Rs.2700

Total Amount = Rs.29950 + 15K(approx. may be less) for Samsung P2370MS

I've not recommended a speaker system for you as you're planning to watch via DTH so your audio is also coming from your monitor. If you want a decent speaker system you can add Altec Lansing 2.1 VS2621 Rs.1650.

Hey thanks a lot Aman for that detailed reply.

May i ask what is the extra 120 MM intake fan for ? And why do i need a separate SMPS (I guess its in-built now-a days in the cabinat ?)

YES, you don't only need a separate SMPS you'll need a really good SMPS that's why I recommended corsair and everyone else will tell you the same.

The extra 120mm fan can be of brands like amigo, glacialtech (200bucks for any 120mm with >60CFM airflow) as it keeps +ve air pressure inside your cabinet(you'll have a pre-installed 120m 40cfm fan in the rear with the cabinet) taking cold air from the inside at the same time cooling your HDD's by at least 2C which will prolong your HDD's and component's life.

Bru you can reduce the RAM to 2GB Transcend as he has said the PC isn't being used for intensive gaming, later like a year or six months he can upgrade to four GB also a good post bru Hats off

Thanks for the reply.

Few more questions:

1. - I had an AMD Athlon XP a few years ago, and it use to overheat like hell.

Does current generation AMDs have similar problems ?

2. I generally don't use UPS, but have inverter backup. Do i need to use a UPS with this configuration ?

3. If at all i don't require DTH with this configuration, which other monitor can i go for - BenQ 220HD ?

Regards

Man all the facts about AMD heating up is crap, it is from the shop keepers who get a better margin if they sell Intel components, all AMD processors run cool

Recommend having atleast a basic UPS as the time lag in the response of a Inverter is too great and the PC will restart

yeah you can go with any monitor if you don't want a DTH set up Benq G2200HD is a 21.5" full HD monitor search other options from Dell and Samsung too

Hope this helps, enjoy your RIG build :)
